When I stepped into the role of CEO at eXiin, solidifying the company culture became one of my top priorities. It's about crafting a vision of what Exiin stands for and establishing a set of principles for the team to adhere to and follow.
In this process, I've been guided by the compelling book "Up, Down, Up," which has proven quite useful in shaping my approach to this crucial aspect of our organization. It provides a plethora of insights from other CEOs in the industry, offering valuable perspectives on building a strong corporate culture.
One core principle I'd like to address relates to the profound integration of work in our lives and how often we overlook the true meaning and impact of our work. The reality for many of us is that we spend more of our waking hours at work than at home, interacting more with colleagues than our own families. Given this significant investment of our time and selves, it's vital to me that work isn't just a place where you spend your day waiting to return home but a space that enriches, engages, and fulfills us.
I envision an enjoyable work environment, that offers flexibility, fosters growth, and is built on a foundation of trust. A place where every team member feels valued, where their contributions matter, and where they can find meaning and satisfaction in what they do daily.
Those who know me might find it odd that I express this. Considering my reputation as a workaholic, always fixated on the horizon, never acknowledging accomplishments, and constantly working. The truth is, I enjoy creating and exploring and therefore enjoy work! However, I recognize that my passion is not universal.
My fixation on the horizon has shifted after many personal strives and losses; I now yearn to enjoy the journey and want those around me to share in this enjoyment. I don't wish to instill the same bitterness I harbored for the past two decades in others. Failing to do so would mean failing those who trust me.
I'm curious to hear from my network: What do you find important in a company's culture? What elements contribute to making your work life not just bearable, but vibrant and meaningful?
