From Barren Sands to Solar Powerhouse ☀️ Can deserts fuel a nation's future? I'm fascinated by Mahindra Rise and their Susten initiative. They're looking at the vast, sun-soaked deserts not as limitations, but as untapped potential. Imagine transforming those seemingly barren landscapes into clean energy hubs! How is it possible? Massive Solar Farms: Harnessing the desert's abundant sunlight with sprawling solar panel installations. The king is coming, the king is coming--king tide, that is--January 11 to 12 and February 9. What's a king tide? King tides occur naturally and regularly. They are predictable, but not an everyday occurrence. The term describes very high tides that are caused when there is alignment of gravitational pull between sun, moon and Earth. Flooding along the shore often results when king tides occur. It is this flooding that that gives scientists clues into what our coastline may look like as we inch closer to climate changes and sea level rise. The California King Tides Project is seeking your help in photographing what you observe at the coast on January 11, 12 and February 9. Your photos help monitors: * Understand what's vulnerable to flooding * Plan for sea level rise * Identify things that can be done to make a difference 📷 Fitzgerald Marine Reserve, Seal Cove Stairs, 12/23/2022, as shared in the King Tides photo album Info about photo observation program: https://buff.ly/2V5z6IH #kingtides #ocean #weather #searise #climatechange #citizenscience

Day 197: In the wake of our planet's fever rising, the glaciers that once stood as eternal monuments are now weeping their last drops into the warming oceans. Species, known to us and unknown, are disappearing with silent screams, their existence erased by our negligence. The storms, once courteous whispers, now rage with a fury born of our disregard. This is not a future fable; it is the chilling reality of our present. Each day of inaction adds to the weight of consequence that our children and their children will inherit. We are the architects of this impending disaster, but we can also be the architects of change. The time for action is not tomorrow, not next year, but now—before the whispers of warning become the wails of despair.
