Despite a challenging first quarter, Alaska Airlines succeeded in bouncing back, mostly due to a strong rebound in business travel, particularly from IT firms, which increased revenue by 22%. Alaska reported good rises in premium-class revenue and expects further growth into Q2, regardless of the major aircraft delays caused by the Max 9 grounding. As summer approaches, the outcome is still favorable, with strong bookings. Ontario is a viable option for air travel and air cargo in Southern California. Ontario International Airport has seen a significant increase in both its passenger and cargo traffic. The airport handled close to 470,000 passengers in January, including more than 45,000 international travelers. While the increase of almost 10% in passenger traffic from the same month a year ago is impressive, it is the airport’s recent success in its cargo volumes that stands out. According to the Federal Aviation Administration, in 2022 ONT was the ninth leading cargo airport in the United States, and third in the west, trailing only Anchorage and LAX. Starting July 2, Air New Zealand is introducing an important new program at Auckland International Airport. To keep flights safe and efficient, they’ll be conducting a passenger weight survey for international flights. Here’s How It Works: ➡ Two Scales, One Goal: At the gate lounges, you'll see two scales. One is for you to step on so we can log your weight, and the other is for your luggage. ➡Privacy Assured: We understand stepping on a scale might be a bit daunting. Rest assured, this process is entirely voluntary, and your weight will remain confidential. There will be no visible display of your weight anywhere. "We weigh everything that goes on the aircraft – from cargo to meals to luggage.  For customers, crew, and cabin bags, we use average weights, which we get from this survey." This data is essential for our pilots to ensure the plane's weight and balance are just right. — Alastair James, load control improvement specialist. This survey is a requirement from New Zealand's Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and will run from June to July. A quick rant. This probably isn't the forum, but for those of you who are business travelers, it serves as a warning. I got a Spam email today from Mark Nasr at Aeroplan telling me how they have made improvements to serve me better. Yet, they have no idea I've almost completely stopped using their service. Aeroplan and Air Canada are prime examples of companies who could have a virtual monopoly in their industry and yet they continuously demonstrate the inability to do what is right. Here's an example. Return flight Toronto to Chicago booked with Air Canada (not United). Same class of fare both ways. Air Canada used their "partner United on the return flight. This is called "Code Share" YYZ - ORD - Air Canada flight - 435miles ORD-YYZ - United flight - 109 miles Chicago didn't get 326 miles closer. Air Canada simply wants to mislead the customer and provide as little reward as possible. This practice is why I avoid them at all cost. #aircanadasucks #travel #Canada #businesstravel

Frontier Airlines entices customers with all-you-can-fly air pass for just $599 If one of your New Year’s resolutions is to travel more in 2024, then US carrier Frontier Airlines may just have an offer you might wish to consider. The Denver-based company is offering an all-you-can-fly air pass for $599. The pass offers unlimited travel for a year although restrictions apply.  The airline’s ‘Go Wild All-You-Can-Fly Annual Pass’ gives customers access to unlimited travel on Frontier Airlines flights starting on May 1, 2024, until April 30, 2025. However, there are numerous blackout dates restricting travel for a total of 58 days during the designated 12-month period.  The pass is aimed at getting more casual travelers to venture further afield in the coming year.
