Last year California opened the fewest new hotels in ten years, since 2014. The nine-county #BayArea also saw sharp declines over 2023’s new hotel debuts. Things aren’t expected to change immediately — consider the availability of discounted or debt-troubled hotels, and other downward pressures on construction financing. However, new projects in some parts of the Bay Area could make 2026 or 2027 a better year. "New York City has lost 6,000 total hotel rooms since 2019, with 3,000 of those lost in Manhattan, according to brokerage JLL. Responsibility for the loss can be attributed to many factors, including to the 16,000 rooms — 9,000 in Manhattan — that were converted to migrant housing. But talking with industry insiders shows a far more complicated reality, with signs of concern abutting an 87.2 percent hotel occupancy level in Manhattan, according to PwC — never mind 8,000 new hotel rooms in the pipeline." Here's my look at the current state of NYC hotels - thanks to Shimon Shkury, Mitchell Hochberg, Kevin M. Davis, Ian Dunford, and G. Lamont Blackstone, CRX for talking with me about this important and ever-evolving topic. https://lnkd.in/gc6AXY-p

Not only is parking a growing source of revenue, it is profitable.
Parking revenues have increased by 23.1% from 2019 to 2023, based on a sample of U.S. properties in CBRE’s Trends® in the Hotel Industry database, which is more than four times greater than the growth rate for total hotel revenues during that period. #parking #valetparking #corepark
