Here are some effective tips to help avoid mosquitoes around your home and reduce the likelihood of bites: Eliminate Standing Water: Mosquitoes breed in standing water. Regularly check and empty water from flowerpots, gutters, buckets, pool covers, pet water dishes, discarded tires, and birdbaths. Use Mosquito Repellents: Apply insect repellents that contain DEET, picaridin, IR3535, or oil of lemon eucalyptus to exposed skin, following the product instructions carefully. Wear Protective Clothing: When outdoors, especially during dawn and dusk when mosquitoes are most active, wear long sleeves, long pants, and socks. Consider treating your clothes with permethrin for extra protection. Install Screens: Ensure that window and door screens are intact and secure to keep mosquitoes out of your home. Use Mosquito Nets: If sleeping in areas exposed to the outdoors, use mosquito nets around your bed to provide a barrier against bites. Keep Vegetation Trimmed: Tall grass and overgrown vegetation provide shelter for mosquitoes. Keeping your lawn mowed and vegetation trimmed back can reduce these resting spots.
