Right Time: - Lots of guys tell me they sent in their resume to a contractor but never heard anything back. Right Decision Maker - Huge one here; gotta know the decision maker or else things take longer. Is your resume up to par? - This are a pain to make, especially after a 12 hour shift in the sun. Bland job descriptions = bland candidates. Take these steps to spice things up: 1. Describe the outcome, not the role. People want to be inspired, not recruited. 2. Write for one person, as if they're already working with you. It's more inviting than writing for the masses. 3. Use a conversational style that's easy to read. Avoid jargon. 4. Add tiny details that make the role feel unique. Like how the office has a deck overlooking a park. 5. Use this line: "If you want to know more, I want to hear from you." 6. Share a bit about yourself or the team. It's more personal than a list of bullet points. 7. Have a kick-ass closing line. Tell them you look forward to changing the industry together. Now a days, people have either forgotten to interpret the CV or their greed have increased to an extent that they don't value time of anyone. Some people see the resumes/work portfolio, then they write candidates writing that they are impressed with the same and after that they schedule a call just to say that you are overqualified and we don't think we have that budget because we are looking for someone who can work for free for a month or two. People are doing a lot of manipulation. One should learn to respect someone's time at least.
