We are seeking supervisees or recently licensed counselors who just completed their required supervision to take part in the second phase of a two-phase ARCA Task force Delphi consensus study. Pioneering Social Impact & Digital Innovation ✘ 2x Founder ✘ Founder of GOOD PPL - Building High-Profile Social Impact Campaigns ✘ Co-Founder of BILLIE AI - Shaping the Future of Student Safety & Mental Health
The recent announcement made by VP Harris regarding the “$285M investment to help schools hire and train more than 14,000 mental health counselors,” is most certainly a step in the right direction and a historic win for our nation. Yet, it is not enough – we also need to focus on effective, scalable and innovative solutions. This is exactly why products like BILLIE BOT will revolutionize the safety and mental well-being of our future generations, because our innovation exponentially creates 24/7 access that reduces barriers to mental health tools & resources for schools & students. There are 98,000 public schools and over 4,000 degree-granting higher ed institutions in the US + according to the Health Resources & Service Administration (HRSA) by 2030 there is only expected to be approx. 164,000 licensed mental health counselors, and only 9,830 being child and adolescent psychiatrists. With the avg ratio of mental health professionals to students being 1 to 1,600 as reported in the National Survey of Counseling Center Directors, it's clear that our country needs more effective solutions. https://lnkd.in/epemES5z #mentalhealthawareness #departmentofeducation #mentalhealth #edtech #highereducation #publiceducation #schoolcounselors

If you are raising a neurodivergent child and feel totally overwhelmed by the sheer volume of people that are supposed to help… But you struggle to actually get the help you and your family need… Here’s a visual representation of why: - Child Find - Medical Evaluation - Applied Behavioral Analysis - Speech - Occupational Therapy - Physical Therapy - Psychology and other mental health professionals - Developmental Disabilities Services - Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs - Department of Aging - Vocational Rehabilitation - Transition Planning Process - Person Centered Planning - Home and Community Based Services - Charting the LifeCourse - Future Planning - ABLE Accounts - SSI - SSDI This is not an exhaustive list - it took me a few minutes to jot down who we’ve been referred to or worked with in the last 12 years. BUT - for many of these, there are multiple agencies and organizations that support their work. Meaning, the organization may not actually do the work - or all of the work - but they manage the money and the people that do the work to support your neurodivergent kid. They also have limited resources and are bound by laws, regulations, program guidelines, and funding restrictions. Which means there is overlap in what some people do, but they don’t do the work in the same way. It’s overwhelming, hard to navigate, and that makes it so frustrating - especially when you know there’s help, but you can’t access it. But you don’t have to navigate it all alone. That’s why Experiential Life exists, to give you direct access to information, resources, community, and connection, in a way you understand - all from the palm of your hand. Link for more info in the comments. ID: 2 blue post it notes with the different systems, providers, and professionals we encountered over the last 12 years. The list is detailed in the post. #RaisingNeurodivergentKids #ParentSupport #SystemsNavigation #DevelopmentalDisabilitiesServices #ExperientialLife

Special education advocates are focusing on funding, mental health, and teacher shortages. At the recent Special Education Legislative Summit, members of the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) and the Council of Administrators of Special Education (CASE) emphasized the need for increased IDEA funding to address growing service demands and severe staff vacancies. With 70% of schools reporting special education teacher vacancies and half of new teachers leaving within five years, immediate action is necessary. Advocates also support the Creating Access and Resources in Education for Student Mental Health Act to boost school-based mental health professionals. Addressing these challenges is crucial for improving outcomes for students with disabilities. I loved how Shropshire Council has done a webpage designed for those with neurodiversity and for others to see what neurodiversity is. Isn't it great to get neurodiversity heard and out there so people can see what brilliant talent we have? On the Shropshire Council webpage, it explains what neurodiversity is and how we are different from the neurotypical to explain the ways that we cope and work in life. If you want any further information on neurodiversity, please search for neurodiversity, and then a list of posts and connections should come up. #Neurodiversity #ShropshireCouncil #Webpage #Creation #WhatisNeurodiversity
