I am a big fan of resolution and transparency. I recently sent this email to MadeComfy: #MadeComfy Hi XXXX Thanks for your courteous but not very promising response. I would really appreciate making a time to chat personally. I was never reimbursed for ANY lost income as it took weeks to 'resolve' what had actually happened in my place, which we still do not know or have not been told. What I do expect in our conversation is some answers. Who stole my property, why it was not reported to Air bnb, and why two lots of guests had to endure a stay with all of our stuff in disarray in both the upstairs bedroom as well as the garage. Also, why things were fixed/ patched up so appallingly. When you talk of resolution ... what exactly was that? 'We will do you the honour of allowing you to exit your contract early if you shut up?' Does not quite work like that! I trusted in your company implicitly and lost a ridiculous amount of money in rent due to your inefficiency. Meanwhile I see that your company keeps getting it wrong! What have you actually learnt? I repeat, I paid you to do a job that you never did! Please go back over my emails, and have the courtesy to be able to address my queries when we chat. Regards Ombi This was the response: Hi Ombi, Thank you for your email. I appreciate your feedback and understand your frustration. Regarding the resolution previously provided, we have reviewed all discussions and agreements thoroughly. While I was not directly involved at that time, I have ensured that all agreed-upon resolutions, including any refunds or payments, were implemented. The outcome was settled based on the information and agreements at that time. I understand your concerns and acknowledge the feedback you have shared through various channels. Our team reviews all feedback to continually improve our services. While I recognize that the experience was not ideal, and we strive to minimize such occurrences, the issues you raised are part of the inherent risks in the short-term rental industry. We continuously work to address these challenges and improve our processes. At this point, I believe we have reached the end of our discussion on this matter. Should you have any other unrelated queries or need further assistance, please feel free to reach out. Thank you for your understanding. Best regards, Simon Wow! What appalling customer service. They clearly have no idea about accountability, transparency or having a chat to me about what actually went wrong. Choose wisely people!

Most of the budgeting apps and PFM apps have failed in Europe where open banking is live. It is a nice feature to have and customers find it useful but they have failed to understand on how to monetize it. Banks hold the primary relationship, your salary and have an understanding of your transactional behavior. The competition will be between the tier1, tier 2 and the challengers and desintermediation of specific banking products from your primary banking relationship.

Travelstart means we don't have to talk to airlines Booking.com means we don't have to talk to hotels. Amazon means we don't have to talk to shops. Which platform do you think will mean we don't have to talk to banks? I was thinking about this because I was using 22seven, a South African expense budgeting platform. (It's actually one of the better ones I've used anywhere in the world.) Anyway I noticed it could pull accounts for all the banks I use, except Capitec. And that makes 22seven useless to me. But the solution isn't to stop using 22seven. It's easier to open a new account with (say) TymeBank and simply stop using Capitec. And then I can continue having all my transactions in one place. This got me wondering. If booking.com and travelstart and amazon and many other platforms can disintermediate the service providers, why can't his happen in banking? And then maybe banks will just slip into the background as a million developers around the world create cool apps and interfaces that makes dealing with multiple banks frictionless, gives us the best price for every loan, mortgage, overdraft, transaction and FX deal we do and brings the best AI to help us spend and save with ease. If a budgeting app can make me switch banks, I'm pretty certain a cool app that aggregates everything else will have me and millions of others as clients in seconds. If you know of any examples let me know. I'm in. #banking #aggregators #friction

𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐓𝐰𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐢𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 When you're rushing to prepare for an international trip, it's easy to leave some tasks for the last minute. Exchanging your money might seem like a simple check-box that can be done quickly at the airport, but here are some compelling reasons why that might not be the wisest choice: 1. Unfavorable Exchange Rates Airports are known for having the most expensive exchange rates. Since they're the last stop for many travelers, currency exchange booths take advantage of the captive audience and often charge much higher rates than what you'd find elsewhere. 2. High Commission Fees Aside from the poor rates, many airport currency exchanges also charge high commissions or service fees. These extra costs can add up, especially if you're exchanging a significant amount of money. 3. Inconvenient Amounts Exchanging money at the airport may result in getting denominations that aren't ideal for your needs. Smaller, less common denominations can be harder to spend, especially in places where exact change is needed or in less urban locations. 4. Better Alternatives Available These days, there are numerous alternatives for currency exchange. From using credit/debit cards with no foreign transaction fees to withdrawing money directly from ATMs at your destination, you'll likely find better rates and lower fees. 5. Planning Pays Off By planning and exchanging money beforehand at your local bank or through a reputable online forex service, you can shop around for the best rates and ensure you're getting the most bang for your buck. Remember, every penny counts when you're traveling! To make the most of your travel budget, consider avoiding the airport currency exchange and looking into more economical and convenient options. 💡 Travel Tip Alert: Planning to use your debit card abroad? Here's what you need to know! Before you jet off, file a travel notice with your bank. This simple step alerts their transaction monitoring systems that you'll be making international transactions, reducing the chances of your card being blocked while you're away. 🌍💳 Even if you don’t plan on using your debit card during your trip, it’s still smart to notify your bank. You never know when you might need to access cash or handle an emergency. Better safe than stuck! ✈️💼 #TravelSmart #TravelTips #StayPrepared
