🔌Transforming #WasteHeat into Opportunity 🔄 What can be done with excess heat from machines or thermodynamic processes? The answer is: #reuse it. With the right technology, here are some innovative solutions in action: · Odense, Denmark: a globally advanced #DataCenter recovers 100,000 MWh of energy annually, heating around 7,000 homes. · Helsingborg, Sweden: Since 1974, the Kemira #ChemicalPlant has cut carbon emissions by 171,000 tons per year by utilizing waste heat. · Hamburg, Germany: Aurubis #CopperPlant recovered waste heat can potentially reduce CO2 emissions by 140,000 tons annually. There are many examples highlighting how repurposing waste heat can drive #sustainability. Stanisław Zachara and Anna Hall share in the video how we can adopt these best practices at scale and pioneer positive change together.

⚡ Utilising waste heat recovery for energy efficiency and sustainability! Utilising waste heat enhances energy efficiency and reduces greenhouse gas emissions. By converting waste heat into useful energy for communities, we move closer to achieving energy resilience. Research Infrastructures (RIs) are major energy consumers, and repurposing the heat they generate is crucial for benefiting communities and strengthening sustainability efforts. At FlexRICAN, we are proud to collaborate with industry leaders like Alfa Laval to recycle waste heat at RIs, benefiting both communities and the environment. Interested in how we are going to achieve this? Follow us for updates! #energyresilience #wasteheat #heatrecovery #sustainability

Exciting visit to our Preferred Supplier Werner & Mertz Professional Vertriebs GmbH Plant in Mainz! Last week our European Customer Synergy S.A. Team got an exclusive peek into their chemical cleaning production process and it was really impressive. The diverse production lines caught our eye, showcasing their incredible flexibility. With their high-speed production lines they are producing more than 10,000 bottles per hour. What's even more amazing is their commitment to sustainability – not only do they produce recycled plastic bottles and cans in-house to avoid logistics costs, but they've turned as first company ever their admin building into a CO2-negative space. The secret? A mix of wind turbines, solar systems, and innovative deep drilling to harness 5-degree groundwater for cooling before it enters the production process. It's inspiring to see how Werner&Mertz is leading the way in sustainable practices and great to do business with a company setting such a standard for the whole industry. #facman #ecs #sustainability #innovation #Behindthescenes

🔋 Advancing Battery Recycling in Europe for a Sustainable Future 🌍 As technology evolves, the importance of effective battery recycling grows. Europe is dependent on lithium imports, and the demand continues to grow, so significant progress is needed to create a sustainable, circular economy for batteries. Below are some exciting milestones within the European battery recycling space: ♻ tozero announcing their first commercial delivery of recycled lithium products to their European customers ♻ A significant increase of funding in the space - cylib secured a €55M Series A round, the largest funding round in battery recycling to date ♻ A collaboration between Europe & Japan to facilitate the exchange of information regarding mining sites and suppliers used in battery production - this comes after EU introduction of regulations requiring the recycling of EV battery materials ♻ Battri launched their first full-scale Li-Ion battery recycling facility in France - they have the capacity to treat 30k tons of batteries annually (80k EV batteries!!) ♻ Primobius partnering with Mercedes-Benz, aiming to achieve a recycling rate of over 95% ♻ The EU are working to implement new laws to ensure that the battery supply chain is more sustainable, circular & safer. Europe's journey towards a sustainable battery ecosystem is a collaborative effort. These are just a few of the achievements in the space at the moment, with many more to come! #Sustainability #BatteryRecycling #CircularEconomy #GreenTech #EUInnovation #RenewableEnergy #EnvironmentalImpact #TechForGood

Green hydrogen at the Dörzbach plant 🏭🌱 At ARNOLD UMFORMTECHNIK's Dörzbach plant, we are preparing to switch to green hydrogen for the heat treatment process. This switch will significantly reduce our carbon footprint and make an important contribution to sustainability. The use of green hydrogen enables us to make heat treatment process virtually emission-free and thus take a further step towards climate-friendly production. Our engineers and technicians are working hard to turn this vision into reality. Find out more about how we are making our production more sustainable and what measures we are taking to minimise our ecological footprint: https://lnkd.in/ehgYYVBj #GreenHydrogen #SustainableProduction #CO2Reduction #ARNOLDUMFORMTECHNIK

This week, I went to Munich to talk with suppliers and colleagues worldwide. It has been a moment to collect ideas and exchange opinions on how our renewals and recycling business is going. Some brief notes: 1) There are some general trends where the demand from the market is increasing quickly, but the technologies are not yet fully ready for industrial application (textiles, EV battery) 2) Sludge treatment is developing quickly in Germany and northern Europe, with mature technologies. Other countries like Italy are still on the way to permitting political issues 3) Connected to point 2, phosphorus recovery is a big target but still far away from an economically sustainable process 4) Many new players from China and other countries are entering the market, challenging the "old" EU companies. To be competitive, our companies have to find new solutions and invest in R&D and new internal processes.

⚗ There used to be a saying in the industry that 'one could make anything from lignin, except money'! ⚗ This may well be coming to an end thanks to our brilliant, new #lignin-based product development work. This time we are focusing on #elastomeric materials. Lignin is an extremely underutilised natural resource, and in this project, we aim to accelerate the development of these rubber-like materials for future industrial applications. All thanks to the generous funding provided by BioInnovation and to the dedicated project partners at RISE Research Institutes of Sweden, Trelleborg Group, BASF, MetGen and us at Lixea. ❓Why focus on this area of materials: 1. The global market for rubber products and their like is vast 2. The market is worth hundreds of billions of dollars as the use of these materials extend into every facet of our daily lives 3. Until now, bio-based alternatives have played a minor role in this fossil dominated industry – we aim to challenge this with this project ♻ One more step in our transition to a clean, sustainable world! 🌍

Our COO, Dr Christian Marston be presenting at the Battery Forum - North America on behalf of Altilium Clean Technology. We’re proud to be the only UK company offering a full battery circularity model, which includes zero-carbon EV battery collection, black mass recycling, and chemical refining to create battery-ready CAM for reuse in the EV supply chain. He will be sharing insights into our ground-breaking EcoCathode™ process, which is revolutionising the production of P-CAM and CAM from recycling old EV batteries. This process not only cuts emissions by over 60% but also reduces costs by 20% compared to traditional supply chains. As the global automotive industry accelerates its shift towards EVs, the demand for critical battery materials such as lithium, nickel, and cobalt are surging. However, sourcing these essential metals often comes with significant environmental and societal challenges, including geopolitical tensions. To address these issues, the EU has introduced new regulations requiring battery manufacturers to incorporate recycled materials into their products—an important topic he will cover in his talk.
