Race Network Leaders & Future Leads Event We are thrilled to have Vincent Egunlae, an award-winning keynote speaker and the Number 1 Black British Business Award Rising Star, sharing his experiences and insights on being a Race Network Leader and how he has excelled in his career. Additionally, our recognised Silver Trailblazer, Riverside, will be discussing their journey of organisational cultural change and the impact it has had on their company. 1️⃣A year after the BlackNorth Initiative’s (BNI) pledge to improve Black representation launched, it had almost 500 signatories; however, four years later, the number of signatories remains the same. Among the BNI signatories traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange, only 3.3% of board members were Black in 2022, according to our report, "Diversity in Leadership at S&P/ TSX Companies." One of the biggest lessons I learned in 2023 was the value of actively pursuing awards.⁠ ⁠ For years, I hesitated to pursue business awards despite advice from business coaches encouraging me otherwise. ⁠ I mean… I already had three Emmys, Associated Press Awards, and others… why did I need these business awards? ⁠ However, this year, I finally understood how crucial it was. ⁠ ⁠ While the submission process requires dedicated time, the positive impact awards have on team morale are invaluable. ⁠ ⁠ Winning awards, such as the TITAN 100, Enterprising Women of the Year, and the Daily Herald Media Group's Influential Women in Business, isn't about individual acknowledgment -- it's about showcasing the entire team's success.⁠ ⁠ Awards are also a powerful tool to attract top talent and enhance the company's reputation with clients.⁠ ⁠ I'm honored to have received such notable awards in 2023, and I cannot wait to see what 2024 holds for our team! #awardwin #executiveleadership #publicspeaking

According to this research and despite modest female representation progress in senior leadership roles, Black women still face unique barriers to reaching the upper ranks, and their much slower promotion pace has led them to, on average, take more frequent career risks than their white counterparts. Companies should take a holistic view and facilitate organizational changes that create positive leadership experiences for all employees and elicit more opportunities for minority leaders to emerge.

The Nomination Is The Win Today, I wanted to share how humbled I am to be nominated for the #RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards presented by Women of Influence+ I am honoured to stand beside some of the most incredible humans. To be perfectly transparent, I’m not sure who nominated me, but THANK YOU! In my opinion, receiving a nomination is incredible because it signifies recognition and validation of your hard work, dedication, and achievements. It is a testament that your efforts have been noticed and appreciated by others, whether it be #peers, #colleagues, or the #public. “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.”~Marianne Williamson It means that someone believes in your abilities and contributions enough to put you forward for recognition. It is a humbling experience to know that others see value in what you do and deem it worthy of acknowledgment. There is so much power in knowing your worth. Take the acknowledgement as the win and know that whatever you are doing, you’re a #rockstar and doing awesome. Your #superpower is the confidence, the belief system you have within yourself. Personally, I take so much pride in the fact that somebody took time out of their busy, precious life to do this for me. That is the win for me! It motivates me to continue striving for #excellence and creating a positive #impact in the world. “You can’t always get what you want. But if you try, sometimes you just might find you get what you need.”~Rolling Stones While the desire to win is a natural and valid aspiration, it's essential to recognize the value and significance of being nominated because they represent acknowledgment, recognition, and validation of one's efforts and accomplishments. I believe they should be celebrated as important #milestones in their own right. Both being #nominated and #winning have their own merits and can contribute to personal growth, recognition, and success in different ways. I’m unsure who needs to hear this today… I believe we are all worthy of being acknowledged and applauded. That is what my entire mission is with I Am Unbreakable™ Global Media. So, know there are many different ways to be elevated and celebrated. It might not always be in a traditional form, but there are people who appreciate your grind, vision, and passion!
