One of my proudest product moments was working with engineers to launch an ad-supported model and diversified subscription offerings in 1 month (and iterations every sprint thereafter) to retain and convert free users of an app selling second phone numbers. Ensuring different types of users were able to generate value from the app depending on their use case is important to keep users loyal and keep them for long. Having an ad-incentivised freemium model helped move this app one step closer to catering to a multitude of users with different requirements and also helps justify CAC. Hat tip goes to mobile rockstars Hsin Yu Tang and Chia Yu Hsiao for launching a smooth experience here and for pushing through in integrations with programmatic ad marketplace partners. Also had an amazing pillar in Chin Siang Chua working to build the necessary backend services to enable this flow, and a strong partnership with the legal team to ensure the app was compliant with global guidelines surrounding ads and attribution.
