Founder / Influencer Marketing Specialist - I help agencies and brands build profitable social media and influencer marketing strategies.
Let's talk roles in Influencer Marketing. Specifically what should be expected at each level and what your role should entail. First up - what are the levels, i've seen a variety of job titles etc, so lets keep it simple in your route to the top. This is more an agency career flow, but can also be applied to brand side. Influencer Marketing Executive (0-1 years experience) Senior Influencer Marketing Executive (1-2 years experience) Influencer Marketing Manager (2-3 years experience) Senior Influencer Marketing Manager (3-4 years experience) Influencer Marketing Director (4-5 Years Experience) Head of Influencer Marketing (5+ Years Experience) Director of Influencer Marketing (7-10 Years Experience) The years experience here is rough averages - and in some cases it can be more about what you've done, than how long you've done it for. I've seen many people in my career with 5 years+ experience who've essentially had 1 years experience they've repeated 5 times. So let's talk Influencer Marketing Executive Roles. Salary Expectations: £25-30k (higher end London) What your job entails: At this point in time you should be very new to Influencer Marketing, this part of your career journey involves sourcing the right influencers for campaigns and conducting influencer outreach. What makes a good influencer executive? Your ability to follow a brief is absolutely paramount. Find your team the right influencers. This is the fundamental necessity of your job. After this, its about spotting trends, building rapport, collating evidence for reporting. Looks like this: Please can you source influencers on TikTok within the fashion niche who have a following of 50,000+ with an average view count of 5,000 views+ (Priority 1) We'd be happy to take a look at influencers who do not meet the criteria for followers, if they are consistently exceeding the criteria for views (Priority 2) Please create a list of 50 creators who match the above criteria, and create content such as "get ready with me" "top weekly outfits" "shopping hauls etc" - we want a diverse set of creators with at least 25% of suggested influencers meeting DEI requirements. At this stage - you want to be preparing this list and doing it within an allotted time frame - usually 1-3 days. You'll then be working with your team to outreach to those influencers to see if they are interested in working with your brand / client - and starting to negotiate rates that have likely been prescribed to you. For example, this creator in our mind is worth £400. You are free to negotiate to this rate - but do not go above it without prior approval. Once all creators have been booked - you'll be sending briefs to those creators to follow, approving content alongside your team and watching this go live. You'll then be collating that content for reporting, asking creators for stats etc. In a nutshell, this is your day to day job at executive level. #influencermarketing

Founder / Influencer Marketing Specialist - I help agencies and brands build profitable social media and influencer marketing strategies.
Let's continue our series on roles in Influencer Marketing. Specifically what should be expected at each level and what your role should entail alongside how you should be progressing. Today we're talking Senior Influencer Marketing Executive recap on the levels: Influencer Marketing Executive (0-1 years experience) Senior Influencer Marketing Executive (1-2 years experience) Influencer Marketing Manager (2-3 years experience) Senior Influencer Marketing Manager (3-4 years experience) Influencer Marketing Director (4-5 Years Experience) Head of Influencer Marketing (5+ Years Experience) Director of Influencer Marketing (7-10 Years Experience) Senior Influencer Marketing Executive Roles Salary Expectations: £28-34k (higher end London) What Your Job Entails: You should now have a bit of experience under your belt and should be competent in finding the right influencers you've been briefed on. Whereas the Influencer Exec role was set on sourcing the right influencers and outreaching within set parameters, you should now be adding your own suggestions to the brief - based on your experience, is the budget right? Would the typical influencer you work with negotiate at that price? Are you targeting the right platform based on the trends you are seeing? This would mean that although you are still given an overall budget to work with, you should be applying how you use it to get the best value. You'll also have a better understanding of what fair rates are, and working out what you'd be willing to pay without wider supervision. You also want to be analysing the data that comes back and making more suggestions on how to improve - what went right, what went wrong, what would we do different next time. Be analytical and be forthcoming with those suggestions to the team. Lastly you should now have exposure to contracts and have a working knowledge of the regular terms involved and make tweaks where appropriate based on the negotiations you're involved in. This allows you to be more reactive and autonomous and require less supervision from more senior members of the team. If you're at Influencer Exec level, ask your manager for a bit more control of how you're allocating budget, ask if you can oversee a contract negotiation and get involved in as many creative and analytical discussions as you can. Do these things and you'll be indicating at your next review that you're ready for the step up. Good luck :) #influencermarkeing #socialmediamarketing #influencermarketingroles
