What Makes a Top-Tier Facilitator? 🤔 Being an exceptional facilitator isn’t just about running meetings—it’s about guiding teams through transformative experiences, unlocking creativity, and driving impactful results. 🧠✨ Here are some of the key traits that every skilled facilitator should master: 1️⃣ Objective Leadership 🎯 Staying neutral is critical. A great facilitator creates an inclusive space where all perspectives are heard and valued, without personal bias influencing the outcome. 2️⃣ Be the Navigator, Not the Captain 🧭 Facilitation is about steering the ship, not controlling it. Your job is to guide the conversation while allowing participants to take the lead in crafting solutions. 3️⃣ Mastering the Clock ⏱️ Knowing when to let discussions flow and when to move forward is crucial for maintaining a productive pace. Timing is everything! 4️⃣ Equipped with the Right Tools 🔧 Have the tools up your sleeve is vital. From how digital whiteboards to interactive software. 5️⃣ Sharp Facilitation Tools 💡 Active listening, keeping the energy up, and engaging participants in meaningful dialogue are just some of the facilitation skills that drive impactful outcomes. 6️⃣ Reliable Workshop Frameworks 📋 Tried-and-tested structures ensure workshops run smoothly and achieve clear results. Having a few go-to frameworks in your back pocket makes facilitation easier. 💬 What do you think? Do you agree with these traits, or do you have others in mind? Let’s chat in the comments—I’d love to hear your thoughts! 🚨 Exciting News! 🚨 📅 I'm running a FREE facilitation training workshop. DM me for more information!

Unlocking Your Inner Facilitator: Are You Already Using These Skills? One of the most common questions we get asked is, "Can I call myself a facilitator?" This often comes from people who are already working with groups in different ways but haven’t embraced the ‘facilitator’ title. It’s an interesting distinction between the role of being a facilitator and the skills involved in facilitation. From the conversations we’ve had, it’s clear that many people are already using facilitation skills in their day-to-day work, even if they don’t recognize it. Some of the people we’ve spoken to include: 🎤 Event organizers—running sessions online and in-person with young people, stakeholders, grantees, partners, policymakers, and their teams. 👥 Team managers—leading meetings, away days, or offsites. 💼 Consultants—facilitating group workshops, design sprints, or engagement activities to deliver client projects. 🏘️ Community leaders—engaging with and leading communities in various ways. 🛠️ Board chairs and trustees—facilitating subgroups or board meetings. All these roles, and many others, rely on facilitation skills—even if you don’t always realise you’re using them. And when those skills aren’t present, participants will definitely notice! That’s why we’re excited about our Facilitation 101 courses. Whether you’re a full-time facilitator, an internal facilitator using these skills in your current role, or just starting your facilitation journey, our courses are designed to meet you where you are and help you grow. If you are DELIVERING WORKSHOPS (or presentations & talks), and haven't tapped into using the power of facilitation 🚀, you are missing out on a HUGE opportunity to deepen your impact! Facilitation simply means that you become a guide who supports everyones' ACTIVE process of learning & participation - instead of being the only smarta*ss in the room 😈 Facilitation means that you involve attendees in an active, participatory way. That you create the group conversations that is fluid and insightful and enables sharing of everyone's experiences, perspectives and learnings. If you facilitate learning (instead of lecturing), they will understand deeper, remember better and be more motivated to apply the new insights. If you facilitate a conversation about decisions or about the way we work, not only will the decision you make in a collaborative way be better (as there is more knowledge put together than just yours), but people will also be much more motivated to put them into actions. EVERY learning experience can benefit from introducing more facilitation into it. How specifically and how much? That depends on the goal, purpose and the topic of your workshop and a talk. In some occasions it will be a gentle touch of creating more engagement by small interactive bits and elements. In other occasions, it will mean to open up your "teaching style" and courageously step into a whole new terrain of making the learning experience learner-centered and participatory - and you will be blown away with how much deeper the process of learning and insights will become. In EVERY occasion, it will make your impact deeper and more memorable, and participants more motivated and engaged. If you haven't started developing your facilitation skills just yet - this is time to start! (Train the Trainer program on Trainers Toolbox might be THE place for you to start - I am adding the link in the comments.) If you incorporating facilitation in your work already - this is the time to deepen it (yes, there is always SO much more to explore) and gain new tools! If you are looking for a place to deepen your facilitation and workshop skills with meaningful practice and feedback, as well as discovering many powerful new tools and tips, join me at Facilitation Bootcamp - 2 days exciting immersive live event in Zagreb in November. (Discover details in the comments 👇) (Oh and keep an eye on the next posts because over the next couple of weeks I am diving into many powerful tips & insights on how to facilitate better - Mirna Smidt 🔔 ) #facilitation #workshops #workshopdesign #presentation #presentationskills #publicspeaking #learning #trainerstoolbox

Central PA friends and colleagues! I am hosting a facilitation training at 3 Dots Downtown this Friday June 14th. We have 3 spots remaining. Have you ever experienced a “this could have been an email” meeting - one that leaves you bored and disengaged? Has your group ever struggled to meet its goals for gatherings, events, or processes? Do you feel disconnected from the people you work or collaborate with? You may be missing a secret ingredient - effective facilitation. Facilitation is the art of making work easier and unlocking growth and learning. Facilitation can be the alchemy that engages your group, fosters relationship building and inclusive environments, helps meet your outcomes, or supports clear and direct communication. You don’t need to be a trained facilitator to facilitate. In fact, you are probably already facilitating in your work, social, and home life in ways you might not even recognize. You already are a facilitator! Now it’s time to tap into the power of your skills and hone your craft intentionally. More details and registration: https://lnkd.in/gGBSip35

Glimpses into our courses: Participatory Workshop Design and Facilitation Training from the participants perspective🌟 Participatory Workshop Design - From Skepticism to Engagement! 🎉We went from doubts to participate in a monotonous online training to an interactive, instructive and productive online training in Designing Participatory Workshops. Lia and Johara, our trainers, shattered the notion that online workshops are boring from Day 1 of the course. 💡 Role distribution, content dissemination, interactive tools and methods made us realize how a vivid online workshop could work. We delved into components of a successful Participatory Workshop in real life setting and online, emphasizing preparation and precision. What? What for? Who? When? Where? How? With what? Are crucial questions to reflect on at every step so that no area is left unclear or taken for granted. 🛠️ From the workshop design and steps, the use of virtual collaboration methods and tools, the energizers to keep people awake, and mostly the crucial role of the facilitators, we thoroughly explored what it takes to succeed. Facilitation Training - Facilitation made facile! 💼✨ We could safely say that the facilitation course was one of the most anticipated and exciting classes we had to date. Our trainer, Monika, extracted examples from her extensive real-life facilitation experience as support along the course to build on feedbacks. 💬 Comments and questions from the class made the exchange interactive and enjoyable. Facilitation is so present and required in our daily professional lifes and developing this skill is crucial. We went through the technical skills needed to succeed in this role, from chairing a meeting, facilitating a panel discussion, to proven methods and techniques to deal with most situations that may occur. 📝 Designing part of the course to address our the DPDD (Development Policy Discussion Days) during which we will be facilitating panel discussions ourselves increased our self-confidence as facilitators. One crucial takeaway is the emotional aspect of this role to be aware of self and stay focus on dealing with the flow of the panel. In facilitating panels and meetings, preparation is as important as flexibility to manage the unexpected. 💪🌟 " #Participatoryworkshop #SLE #FacilitationSkills #ProfessionalDevelopment #LearningAndDevelopment
