This would result in a reduction of 156 Mtoe (million tonne of oil equivalent) in diesel and petrol consumption for that year and net savings of roughly Rs 3.9 lakh crore (approximately US$60 billion) in 2030. To achieve this vision, many states have taken proactive steps to formulate and implement EV policies that provide various incentives and support measures for EV adoption, such as demand creation, supply-side incentives, charging infrastructure development, and awareness campaigns. As of November 2023, there are over 6,500 public EV charging stations in India. The Indian government has also announced plans to set up 10,000 new EV charging stations across the country by 2025. 𝙁𝙖𝙨𝙩 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 :The number of fast charging stations in India is also increasing. Fast charging stations can charge an EV battery in a matter of minutes, making them ideal for long-distance travel. 𝘽𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝙨𝙬𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨:  Battery swapping stations allow EV drivers to swap out their depleted batteries for fully charged batteries in a matter of seconds. This is a convenient and time-saving option for EV drivers. Ev Charging Infrastructure Market In India - As per NITI Aayog, India's governmental think tank, electric two-wheelers (2W) and three-wheelers (3W) constituted 17% and 79% of EV sales in 2020. These vehicle categories are anticipated to maintain dominance in the market by 2030, projected at 65% and 14% for 2W and 3W, respectively. Consequently, the charging infrastructure will feature a blend of fast and slow chargers, with slow EV chargers making up the majority share. The slow chargers are rated at a 3kW-6kW power output range. They are the most easily available chargers in India. These devices take around 8-12 hours to charge an EV. They are best suited for 2-wheeler (2W) and 3-wheeler (3W) EVs. In January 2022, Kinetic Green forged a strategic alliance with the Chinese firm Aima to venture into the electric two-wheeler (2W) market. The company outlined its strategy to introduce a minimum of three new models between 2022 and 2023. Their ambitious goal is to aim for an annual production of approximately 500,000 new units of 2W EV vehicles over the next two years. According to the 'Electrification of Vehicles in Gujarat' website, the state has one of the highest electric vehicle (EV) adoption rates in the country, with a total of 77,358 EVs registered (as of October 2023). According to the website, the state's EV growth has been driven by electric two-wheelers, with a total of 68,999 e-2Ws.
