Did you know that on July 26, 1990 the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was passed in an effort to prohibit workplace discrimination in the United States against people with ability-related needs? While there is debate over where and when the first original Disability Pride Month event was organized and convened, more Americans have began observing Disability Pride Month during the month of July each calendar year. We invite the All of Us Together Co. community to consider how you have aided in providing support, space, respect and resources for employees, customers, clients, and other stakeholders with ability-related needs. Of course, you may visit us on the web to request our, "Understanding Accessibility & Ableism” standard education and awareness training course. Remember: no employee’s disability is a barrier. Discrimination against said disability is. 👩🏽💻www.allofustogetherco.com 📧info@allofustogetherco.com ☎️(478)294-0229 ALT TEXT: A color digital graphic with centered emboldened typewritten text as header and four colorful diverse graphics positioned vertically to depict four different humans with visible ability related needs. We are proud to celebrate and recognize Disability Pride Month! It's a poignant reminder that valuing difference and leading with inclusion and belonging are principles that we all must reaffirm and remain committed to. And while the community in the United States has made much progress since the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), there is more work to be done. Data from the Center for Research on Disability shows that "the labor force participation rate for people with disabilities sits at 32.8%; compared to 77.1% for those without disabilities." Our businesses, communities, and society cannot afford to lose on the talent, experience, and unique perspective that people with disabilities bring. Today, and everyday, we must ensure our workplaces are accessible and inclusive. We must ensure our workplace cultures lead with belonging so people with disabilities can show up to work as their authentic selves and thrive. For those asking how I can be an ally to the community, we strongly encourage you to follow your intellectual curiosity, seek knowledge, do your own research, and build empathy. A great place to start is by following organizations like Disability:IN which is leading the way in disability inclusion in the workplace. #BusinessOfBelonging

Great tips for HR, hiring managers, members of an interview panel and leaders. Becoming inclusion-minded requires having strategies in place to cultivate diversity.
🔑 Communication Is Key For Employees With Disabilities 📊 Before launching large-scale disability inclusive efforts, it's essential to have a solid understanding of the base. To effectively engage with your target audience, make sure you understand their problems and needs. 📈 Statistics reveal a significant gap in communication within organizations regarding disability inclusion: 📍Only 56% of workers with disabilities reported that their organization communicates about its leadership's commitment to disability inclusion. 📍Just 53% stated that their organization publicly celebrates its dedication to supporting individuals with disabilities. 📍Only 51% of employees without disabilities acknowledged that their organization effectively communicates about how to support employees with disabilities. 💡 To demonstrate genuine inclusion within your company, it's as simple as asking your disabled employees fundamental questions. ❓ Use the question set compiled by Catarina Rivera, MSEd, MPH, CPACC to make the first step. #DisabilityInclusion #CommunicationIsKey #InclusiveWorkplace #DisabilityAwareness #AccessibilityMatters #ListenAndLearn #AskQuestions

July is Disability Pride month. Instigated by the Americans with Disabilities Act on July 26th 1990 and has since become recognised across the world. Though there has been considerable strides forward for those with disabilities, stigma, barriers and a lack of accessibility continues to exist. And the wide range of support they need to thrive in every aspect of their life. In the UK in 2023 there were 10.21 million people of working age with disabilities in the UK. Of those only 24% were in employment, the main barrier being there access needs being met. Accessibility is the practice of making information, activities, and/or environments sensible, meaningful, and usable for as many people as possible. It’s not hard and it’s not rocket science, We lose the opportunity to work with so much talent when we fail to make our workplaces accessible. #DisabilityPride #DisabilityInclusion
