Consumers are more environmentally conscious than ever. They want to choose beverage containers that are sustainable, but they also want to be drinking out of something that’s convenient and easy to carry, keeps their drinks cold, and protects the freshness of the beverage. The only beverage container that meets all of those requirements is aluminum cans. More than two thirds of aluminum cans are “infinitely recycled” meaning they are recycled into other products that are then recycled again and again. For glass, that number is only 20%. For PETs, even worse. So why are so many beverages packaged in these formats? Many of beverage types have traditionally been forced into these less desirable packages because they were incompatible with, and unable to be packaged into cans. High acidity High sodium Sulfites Cannabevs Now, with American Canning’s aTULC cans, you can package drinks like these in aluminum cans safely, without fear of failure or scalping. This gives consumers the choice they prefer and protects the environment. Learn more about the sustainability of different packaging vessels in our latest blog. #aluminumcans #beverageindustry #beverageCPG #sustainablepackaging

Having a dedicated bin where consumers can place empty recyclable coffee bags can help boost brand loyalty and trust. It shows them that, as a brand, you are committed to protecting the environment and reducing your carbon footprint. This is particularly important as the percentage of eco-conscious consumers continues to grow. By offering and collecting recyclable coffee bags, brands can ensure they're contributing to a circular economy. Brands have several options for collecting recyclable coffee bags. For instance, business owners can do their own research and partner with local recycling facilities. Alternatively, they can partner with businesses like TerraCycle, whose recycling solutions are designed to address all the existing pain points of recycling. Statistics show that consumers are more likely to support brands that are aware of social and environmental issues and take the necessary action. Being active in that space can help emphasise the core values of a coffee shop or roastery. This, in turn, may help inspire customers and other businesses to double down on their sustainability goals. #specialtycoffee #specialitycoffee #coffeebag #coffeepackaging #packagingdesign #coffeeshop #coffeeroasters #coffeeroastery #roastedcoffee #coffeebeans #specialtycoffeeroaster #coffeepeople #roastedcoffeebeans #coffeeexperience #kahve #kaffeerösterei #kaffee #baristadaily #brewedition #coffee #roastingcoffee #coffeeroasters #specialitycoffeeroasters #coffeebranding #coffeemarketing

*Nespresso have publicly disclosed that less than 30% of their capsules are being recycled (globally) through their dedicated capsule recycling facilities. That means that over 70% are likely going to landfill from a single brand. Every month, more Nespresso-compatible products enter the marketplace providing competitive prices and greater convenience to buy at supermarkets, adding more single-use coffee capsules to landfills. Despite these known figures, and until now, there has been only ONE method to recycle aluminium coffee pods (via "collect & return" to Nespresso® or TerraCycle®). Stockpiling 130+ capsules (before sending back) is not an attractive option to many consumers. https://lnkd.in/gg6iPutR

Keurig has announced their recent success in creating the K-Round, which is a coffee pod that is almost only coffee and is a sustainable, single-serve, plastic-free coffee pod. These pods are plastic-free, aluminium-free, highly compressed and are only held together by a thin layer of alginate, a plant-based material. This makes them incredibly environmentally friendly and very sustainable. The article below portrays the way companies are constantly searching for plastic-free and eco-friendly alternatives and Keurig has developed an excellent approach to putting coffee pods through an eco-friendly transformation. It is clear that Keurig has thought through each decision within the design process and the result is a product that evidently holds a lot of potential. 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗞-𝗖𝘂𝗽? It revolutionized single-serve coffee, but its environmental impact has been a hot topic. Keurig marketed them as "recyclable," creating an image of eco-friendly convenience. However, the reality was messy, limited, and sparked concerns about greenwashing (making misleading eco-friendly claims). 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘄𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴? ❎ 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗺𝘀: Keurig stated their K-Cups were made from recyclable plastic and could be recycled through a specific program. This involved peeling apart the foil lid, emptying the coffee grounds, rinsing the plastic cup, and sending it to a special facility. While technically true, the process was far from user-friendly. Consumers often found it cumbersome and messy, leading many to simply toss the pods in the trash. ❎ 𝗙𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: The "recyclable" label created a misleading perception, neglecting the actual environmental toll. Additionally, the specialized recycling program wasn't widely available, further hindering its accessibility. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻? ✅ 𝗕𝗲 𝗮 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗿: Don't trust marketing claims blindly. Research the true environmental impact of any product, including its recycling process, and verify if it's feasible in your area. ✅ 𝗗𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆: Companies need to go beyond just labeling products "recyclable." They should focus on designing truly easy and accessible recycling solutions. ✅ 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀: Consider reusable filters or compostable pods for a more sustainable single-serve coffee experience. Together, we can: 👉 Hold companies accountable for their sustainability claims. 👉 Encourage them to adopt truly eco-friendly practices. 👉 Make informed choices for a sustainable future for our coffee habits. Remember, small changes, collectively, can make a big difference. Let's brew a brighter future, one informed and sustainable cup at a time!
