As the first signs of spring are cropping up in Chicago, I have been thinking about this proverb: “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.”   There are many applications of this proverb for me, personally and professionally… from learning new parenting techniques as my daughters blossom into mini adults to investing in professional skills.   But as I reflect on this proverb, one project keeps appearing at the forefront of my mind: the HUB Outlook. When I first took this leadership role, I observed that many companies had produced annual reports. Some wondered why we weren’t in the market at that moment.   “But everyone has one!”    I understand this perspective: there are core pieces teams need in their marketing and sales enablement portfolios.  The feedback was legitimate. But, to stick with the metaphor of the proverb, we needed to create the right conditions for planting our tree (invest in the soil, if you will). And that’s what we did. We gave ourselves the permission to slow down and to answer important questions—like what matters to our customers—and overlay the answers to those questions with our unique value proposition. Only a few years later (not 20!), we “planted our first tree.”   Something interesting happened. Not only did we plant one tree… we planted a forest. One report turned into 20+ with different segment and product variations, and we added various distribution channels (digital and in-person) throughout the years. And now, we’ve reached the point where “the forest” is a destination. Readers are eager for new content to “blossom” and to see what new seeds we’ve planted to add to the colors and textures of the landscape.   There is value in being first and planting the first tree. There is also value in cultivating the right conditions to ensure that—when you plant the tree—it grows, blossoms, and lasts.    If you’ve been waiting to plant your tree, here’s my advice: start when you are ready and the conditions are right for you. Don’t feel the need to be perfect… one tree will eventually lead to a forest.  #CMO #findyouredge #marketingstrategy #reflection

I'm overwhelmed and grateful for all the congratulatory messages on my work anniversary with Blumberg Advisory Group. Thank you, everyone, for your kind words and support! Joining Blumberg was a decision deeply rooted in my admiration for my father's career as an aftermarket service expert and management consultant. I grew up intrigued by his work – the travel, the diverse clients, and the enduring business relationships he built. It was a world I wanted to be a part of. Our recent experience in closing a professional #journey inspired us to share how we did it - happy inspiration: 1⃣ #Celebrate in Style: Like curators in a museum, we reflected on the experience in an artful style, capturing highlights, lowlights, moments, insights, and jokes 🎊 2⃣ #Lock the room: The pivotal moment came as we invited everyone for a casual coffee gathering outside, to surprise them with a locked room containing artifacts from our shared journey when they are coming back🚪 3⃣ Explain the #symbolism: The closed room represented the end of a chapter, encapsulating all that we had lived through together.
