🌍📜 Today, we celebrate World Parliament Day! 📜🌍 Established in 2018 by the United Nations, this day is dedicated to recognizing the vital role parliaments play in promoting democracy, transparency, and public engagement. Parliaments are essential in fostering responsive, inclusive, and participatory governance, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 16.7. The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) is committed to enhancing the connection between parliaments and the public. Their Engagement, Education, and Outreach Handbook is a key resource in this effort, offering practical strategies to strengthen these essential relationships. As CPA Secretary-General Stephen Twigg reminds us, "World Parliament Day is an opportunity to raise awareness of the contribution that Parliaments make to democracy. It reminds us of the importance of consistently engaging, educating, and communicating with the public on the work that Parliaments do." Let's celebrate the work of parliaments worldwide and their continuous efforts to create more inclusive and participatory democracies. #WorldParliamentDay #Democracy #PublicEngagement #CPA #SustainableDevelopmentGoals #ParliamentaryOutreach

Reducing carbon emissions is good for business. Building communities and changing the world when you do it builds a better future for everyone.
As an entrepreneurial mother of four, my experiences have shaped my understanding of the need for early intervention in gender equality. To change this early on, we must challenge traditional gender roles and biases from childhood. Encourage both girls and boys to take on leadership roles, share household chores, and engage in diverse activities. Schools and communities should promote environments where all children have equal opportunities to succeed. By fostering early equality, we lay the foundation for a future where women and men compete on a level playing field, leading to greater representation and leadership in all sectors of society. MOVING FORWARD: Educate and Sensitize: Integrate gender equality education into school curriculums. Parental Role: Encourage parents to share domestic responsibilities equally and support their daughters in leadership. Policy Changes: Advocate for policies supporting working parents, like affordable childcare and flexible work hours. Role Models: Highlight and celebrate female leaders to inspire young girls. By addressing these issues at the root, we can create a more equitable society where everyone, regardless of gender, has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Standing in solidarity with SWANA femmes and all marginalized genders worldwide – let's unite against oppressive systems. Together, we can build strength, holding the breadth of our intersectionality in linked hands. This International Women's Day, let's amplify each other's struggles and triumphs. As we celebrate women's achievements globally, let's also address the harsh disparities faced by women worldwide. It is not a happy day. Let's use our voice and platforms to elevate those who need it most. Speak up for the women of Pakistan, Central African Republic, Somalia, Sierra Leone, Chad, Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Syria, and Afghanistan. Champion their cause and refuse to look away. Speak up for for trans and nonbinary. None of us are truly free until we all are. Stand for collective action, stand for collective liberation. #IWD2024 #InternationalWomensDay

Far too many women around the world are still unable to meet their contraceptive needs. Access to family planning empowers women and promotes gender equality. This, in turn, results in increased economic and social development, and healthier societies overall. This is why we have made it one of our sustainability goals: Together with our partners, we aim to help provide contraceptives to 100 million women in low- and middle-income countries by 2030. Check out the graphic to see how many women we´ve reached so far! #sustainability #HealthForAll #HungerForNone

Our inspiration today is the incredible Graça Machel. Until women and children's rights for equality become a priority world-over, our work is never done. Let this women's day move us closer to that goal of gender equality and reducing violence against women. #womensday2024 #genderequalitynow #accesstojustice
