University students submit AI full-copy reports...Professor: ``We have to change the way exams are conducted.'' Half of university students have experience using generative AI for writing reports, which is a rising concern among educators. Despite warnings from the Ministry of Education, students are not fully aware of the potential dangers of AI. If educators teaching their students to use Generative AI for search and academic research weren't so damaging, I'd laugh. The information returned is unreliable. The sources cited are unreliable and often include wholly made up sources. Even when sources are real, the information returned from them is often inaccurate at best, made up at worst. When searching for facts, don't we want our students to understand these as deterministic, not probabilistic? Or have we just given up on the notion of truth entirely? But then, I know there are faculty out there using these tools for their own research, and based on some early evidence from journal submissions, we're in danger of destroying the academic enterprise completely. Don't use these tools. Just don't. Have some self respect, and respect for your students. #GenerativeAI #HigherEducation #Research #LLM #JustSayNoToAI

How University education is changing in the wake of AI. Ethan Mollick (Associate Professor at Wharton), set this assignment to his students.
