What do educators do?
Well, yes, we teach.
We teach social-emotional skills, social skills, communication skills, and much more.
We provide safety, hugs, love, and show we can be a child's trusted person.
We are also social workers, therapists, nurses, problem-solvers, mentors, etc.
Another very important aspect of what children get at school is food. Providing breakfast, lunch and food to take home is a must since many children go without.
I am proud to say that my school provides children with their basic needs (including health and dental care)! We provide free breakfast and lunch to all students. We provide food bags for children to take home on Fridays. We have a van come every other week with food such as fresh veggies, eggs, and milk.
Schools need to provide this, because I f we don't, there is no sense in trying to teach anything, because children won't be able to learn when they are hungry and not cared for.
What can you add to the lists above?
What are your thoughts or experiences about food meals being provided at school?

Thank you to U.S. Department of Education for posting this!
Kids can only learn their best when their basic needs are met - and for many students, that means a healthy & nutritious school breakfast.
USDA has resources to help you share the benefits of a healthy breakfast in your community. https://lnkd.in/gE3PuwYe #NSBW24
