Six years ago we scored a powerful piece created by Windmill Factory, described in reviews as "interactive theatre meeting modern dance in a futuristic art museum." In this work, we invited the public to choose their own adventure through a magico-religious dynamistic rite of passage. We begin in a hazed void, seven hooded liminal guides shift black monolithic walls creating reflective labyrinths/corridors/chaos that lead your journey from darkness to light. A sensory disorientation escalates to an assault of cold beams, strobes, and intimidating moving walls - a haunting chaos. This builds to a breaking point, leads to a re-orientation of the senses. We gather collectively at the end of the disorienting journey, united underneath the warmth of a sun. Did we make the "right passage?" What IS "right?" What IS wrong? What fun is life in black and white? The strong human need to be "right" is questioned. Listen. Breathe. Perhaps an alternate passage awaits. The story of Van Halen wanting M&Ms back stage at all their concerts with the brown M&Ms removed is typically told as an example of ego-maniac, rock stars and their strange demands. But do you know the real story? I've been reading Checklist Manifest, and I found this fascinating... As it turns out, the M&M requirement was something they buried in their contracts with promotors/venues as a test. They'd see who did and did not have the attention to detail, as that would be indicative of their experience working with this person. And sure enough, one venue that failed to read this clause also tried to move forward on a concert using a stage with inadequate support, which would have been dangerous to perform on. The secret to success is combining great people with a solid process that is continually refined as needed. #continuousimprovement #ChecklistManifesto

Some ideas for our next live concert video production. We believe there are two approaches: 1. Pure Documentation: simply capturing everything happening at the concert. 2. Enhanced Documentation with Pre-production: Documenting the concert while also planning and pre-producing certain transitions and video features to elevate the final output. We prefer the second approach, involving some pre-production and collaboration with the artist to establish an art direction and key transitions. The best example has been Sfera Ebbasta live shows, where pre-planned shots and transitions were created to highlight important parts of the concert. This pre-production also allowed us to quickly edit and share the video within 24 hours after the concert. #VideoProduction #CrupiStudio
