📣 Lab Technicians, Lab Technologists, Animal Care Staff - take part in this important survey! Collaboration by all involved at all stages of a project, from its inception to post-project assessment is crucial. Those closest to the animals are in a key position to make a change happen, suggest new more refined handling and techniques and to and ensure existing #Refinement opportunities are implemented. #3Rs #AWB #CultureOfCare
We are inviting Animal Care Staff and Lab Technicians to take part in our international survey, "Framing the Role of Animal Care Staff and Lab Technicians in Experimental Planning and Conduct of Animal Studies" ✅ This initiative is part of the COST Association - European Cooperation in Science and Technology Action IMPROVE - 3Rs concepts to improve the quality of biomedical science (CA21139) and is coordinated by the Translational Animal Research Center at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz Medical Center ✅ This anonymous survey explores the involvement of Animal Care Staff and Lab Technicians in discussions around planning and conducting research projects involving animals. 🔗 Survey Link: https://lnkd.in/eaTQWHGA 🌏You can complete the survey in any of the eight languages predefined for this study by clicking "language" in the upper right corner of the survey web page. ⏱ Approximate Completion Time: 10-15 minutes Your collective insights help enhance workers' satisfaction and advance science reproducibility! We are thankful to receive your valuable comments and suggestions, as they are integral to shaping the studies following this survey. 📧 Contact: TARCforce3R@uni-mainz.de 📱 Survey QR-code:

The "Understanding Animal Research” initiative has awarded the #mdcBerlin the seal of approval for exemplary communication in experimental animal research. It's the second time in four years that we are among the awardees. 🥳 At the Max Delbrück Center, we don't just communicate transparently about animal testing; we actively promote an objective social dialogue on the topic. Our efforts aim to foster a better understanding of the complexities of animal research, including ethical considerations, societal perception, and more. Amidst the push for transparency in animal research, exciting updates are emerging from the Netherlands. The second annual report of the Transparency Agreement on Animal Research outlines the efforts of 21 biomedical institutions to enhance communication with the public. Nearly 88% of institutions engaged with media outlets, 13 offered opportunities for the public to visit their animal facilities, and over half of participants attended local events to discuss animal research. Many signatories have also enhanced their online presence, offering detailed information on their websites, including statistics and behind-the-scenes videos. This is a huge step towards fostering transparency and building trust between the scientific community and the public, ultimately paving the way for informed discussions about the vital role of animal research in advancing medical science. "Optimization of the level of dCO2 in the rumen can help improve production, as more dCO2 can encourage increased VFA production for the cow to make more milk. However, too much dCO2 can tip the animal into ruminal acidosis.". Read more about how certain features of your ration can impact rumen functioning in our latest blog post from Dr. José A. Laporte Uribe, DVM, PhD Animal Science. https://lnkd.in/gmPDnPCz
