✈️ One analogy for priorities: think of yourself as the captain of an airplane that’s coming in for a landing. At the back, there could be hundreds of passengers with their little “assistance” lights 🚹 turned on (all of whom have legitimate and important needs), but none of it matters if you can’t land that plane. 1)🙅♀️You actually MUST not try to do everything. 2)🙉You MUST delegate and ignore. 3)🛬 And you MUST focus on what only you can do that will make all the difference (to everyone). Everyone at each level can use this (I used it again yesterday while driving my family someplace and there were 2 crying kids. It’s fun to think of myself as the “captain” of the car when driving 😊) 🤔 What’s a predictable / ongoing “assistance” light from someone on YOUR plane that you can delegate or ignore this week so you can focus more on the MAIN thing? #adaptiveleadership #prioritization ADAPTIVE LEADERS

Lean Community: Culture Change in the Middle. One dynamic I observe in organizations without strong strategic deployment (hoshin kanri) and catchball (flowdown process) is the need for "Trackers". These tracker roles are typically consumed with improving "lagging indicators" through short-term fixes while challenging the "Doers" who focus on "leading indicators" for sustainable solutions; they improve processes closest to people producing the goods/services. (gemba). Negative Impacts: (1) Erodes trust in the middle creating adversarial relationships. (2) Underutilizes the creative talent of the Trackers. (3) Energy is consumed by internal conflict between Trackers/Doers instead of working together to better serve the Voice of Customer. Recommendation: Clearly define roles and responsibilities of the people in the Middle so they collaborate to strengthen those critical connections between Strategy and Tactics!
