“While the number of women coaching women’s sports has increased in the past decade, Black women continue to lag behind most other groups. During the 2021-22 school year, 399 Black women coached women’s NCAA sports teams in Divisions I, II and III compared with 3,760 white women and 5,236 white men.” “In women’s NCAA basketball, a sport made up of 30% Black athletes, Black women made up 12% of head coaches across all divisions during the 2021-22 season, according to the NCAA’s demographics database.” “Fourteen Black women led women’s basketball teams across 65 Power Five programs this past season — up one from 2021. That’s less than 22% of the total in a sport that was played by more Black athletes (40.7%) than any other race in Division I, according to a report with data from the 2020-21 season.”

You might have noticed the diversity of the female players in the NCAA Basketball Tournament. The head coaches and athletic administrators on their campuses are a lot less diverse. This report from the University of Southern California Race and Equity Center takes a look at the makeup of each team in the Sweet 16 and the overall diversity of each campus. The percentage of Black students, faculty, athletic directors, and coaches is low at all schools competing at Division 1 level, and with the recent elimination of DEI programs in states with conservative legislatures and the threat of more DEI bans in other states to come, Black athletes could soon experience even less representation and culturally competent support than they find on their campuses now. Their mission? To advance the careers of executives, athletes, and coaches while changing lives daily. The list highlights 70 impactful people in the NIL space. First off, congrats to everyone who made it. In the NIL world, our student-athletes need all the support they can get. Especially when it comes to understanding the educational and financial aspects. But let’s be real—this list is disappointing and disgraceful. Here’s why: - Dominated by white men - A few women made the cut - A few Black men included - Zero Black women represented No Black women? In 2024? Seriously? Black women deserve recognition in the NIL space. “My 2018 analysis of NCAA data shows that Black men comprised around 2.4% of undergraduates at universities in the SEC, Big Ten, ACC, Pac-12, and Big 12 athletic conferences. Yet, they made up 55% of football and 56% of men’s basketball teams across those high-profile institutions. Black men comprise 50% of the 68 teams in the 2024 NCAA men’s basketball tournament. More than one of every three student-athletes (36%) in this year’s women’s tournament is Black. Among starters and ballers who are getting the most playing time on the courts, talented Black collegians are even more overrepresented. Collectively, they have lots of power.” “And it’s professionals of color who’ll suffer the loss of their important campus jobs. A recent report from the National Association of Diversity Officers in Higher Education shows that most chief diversity officers are people of color, 52% of them are Black, and the majority are women. Hence, it’s Black women who are most at risk of being fired because of the destructive lies politicians are telling about DEI.”

Dear Bill Ackman, were these two brilliant Haitian twin sisters who were top of their class in high school, invented biodegradable masks that are being used for research, and are winning medals in track for Yale, Diversity and Inclusion tokens?. Is opening doors for amazing black women a problem for you such that you have to use gimmicks like subjective plagiarism to set us back. Claudine ran a big Harvard department successfully before becoming president, and she went to Stanford and Harvard previously. If she was of questionable intelligence, how did she get into these exclusive places. Why did she excel in her previous demanding role,if she is not brilliant? Does a Diversity and Inclusion position do the hard work required to succeed at these places as a student for you, or does it just open a door that was closed to our ancestors for ages? Your wife is amazing, and she plagiarized too. Plagiarism is wrong, don't get me wrong, but do not use it to say Claudine was not worthy of her job. She made mistakes, like your amazing wife. If your wife's mistakes make her human but the same mistakes make Claudine Gay unworthy of teaching at Harvard; what is with the double standard? Do not use Claudine's mistakes to question her intelligence,or the intelligence of a whole race in general. Claudine Gay is my hero and your campaign to always be right will not take away her legacy.  Post amazing black women you know. This article is a must-read for understanding and eliminating the insidious cultural biases perpetuating racism. The recent women's college basketball championship highlighted how Black and white athletes are portrayed differently. Despite South Carolina's victory and the achievement of Black women and girls, the media focused on the defeated Iowa team and their star, Caitlin Clark, who were mostly white. This relegation of the true champions to the sidelines of their triumph is a powerful example of systemic racism in our media. At its core, NIL is an industry-level set and ultimately relies on many factors, including but not limited to measuring brand strength and market value.
