As we approach year-end, it’s typical that people start to think about giving back. Whether it’s with your time (if we’re able to find any extra in our busy lives) or your wallet, it’s still an amazing thing to be philanthropic. I’m usually asked how you find the “right” cause to give to, and my answer is always the same: find something that gets you excited. For me, it has always been our service members, both active and retired. This is something that I’m able to share with my children too, and teach them how to be philanthropic. Once you find the one that gets you excited, you’ll never look back, and maybe you’ll be lucky enough to turn that philanthropic endeavor into your families legacy. #philanthropy #legacy #familylegacy #highnetworth #ultrahighnetworth #wealth #wealthplanning

🎉 Celebrating Black Philanthropy Month This August! 🎉 Memphis Music Initiative is excited to be part of Black Philanthropy Month, a time to honor and uplift the innumerable contributions of Black community leaders, nonprofit professionals, and grassroots organizers building on Memphis' artistic and cultural legacy. This year, we’re amplifying our efforts two ways: 🎵 25x25: Creating Change for the Culture - We're on a mission to raise $25 million for 17 local, Black-led and -serving arts organizations by 2025. Here are some ways allies can celebrate Juneteenth: Support Black-owned businesses: You can support Black-owned restaurants, cafes, small businesses, artists, authors, poets, and leaders. Educate yourself on Black history: You can read a Juneteenth reading list, listen to podcasts, or visit a Black history museum. Learning about the history of Juneteenth and racial discrimination can help you challenge oppressive structures and work towards equity, inclusion, and anti-racism. Donate: You can donate to organizations that support Black causes, such as Black Girls Code or the Loveland Foundation. You can also ask employees to donate and match their donations dollar for dollar #juneteenth #allyship #dei

Be Like Mike: Michael R. Bloomberg, the billionaire and former New York City mayor, has set a new benchmark for philanthropic support of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) with his historic $600 million donation to the country's four leading Black medical schools. This unprecedented investment will have a generational impact, significantly bolstering the endowments of institutions like Meharry Medical College, Howard University College of Medicine, and our member institution Morehouse School of Medicine - all of which play a crucial role in educating a disproportionate share of Black doctors in the United States. Everyone with the means to do so should strive to be like "Mike" - to leverage their resources in service of creating a more just, equitable, and inclusive society.
