Two years on we must support Ukraine with as much as it takes, for as long as it takes. Only then will a sustainable peace be possible. Ensuring a free, secure, and prosperous Ukraine emerges from this war is in all of our interests. #StandWithUkraine #DefendDemocracy

In the course of war, the very functions of civil society are needed to sustain the people and preserve democracy in the face of wanton aggression, says our International Renaissance Foundation’s Oleksandr Sushko. Two years after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, our support for hundreds of Ukrainian civil society initiatives continues to build resiliency, bring Russia to account, and contribute to victory. While this might seem like a regional conflict, the effects are global. If Russia prevails, it could spell doom for democracies worldwide. Today marks two years since Russia launched its full-scale war against Ukraine. As a Ukrainian team, this time has been incredibly tough and brought with it a great amount of pain and loss for us all. But it has also highlighted the solidarity, will, and resilience of Ukrainians. Our collective will to win daily fuels our resistance. Our Defenders are daily putting tremendous effort into ensuring our peaceful future. However, it’s also the outpouring of solidarity from across the globe that became a beacon of hope, reminding us that we as a nation are not alone in our pursuit of truth and independence. And for that, we are incredibly grateful! The road ahead is challenging but united, we are resolute. We in Qela support and promote democratic movements and will always invest our resources into the fight for a free and just world. Because the future we want to see is built on freedom, democracy, and justice. #ukraine #democracy #win #russiaisaterroriststate

❝Dictators who are desperate do desperate things.❞ The Allied invasion of Europe in 1944 was by no means perfect. However, 80 years on, the D-Day landings can teach us much about contemporary warfare and 21st century conflicts. Perhaps most pressingly, D-Day and its aftermath teach us about autocrats' willingness to sacrifice everything, rather than face failure. As Putin wages his destructive war in Ukraine, this article reflects on the successes and shortcomings of the D-Day operation and how Western allies can apply its learnings to their support for Ukraine. 🔽 To read this Critical Thinking from Jamie Shea, Senior Fellow at Friends of Europe, follow the link below. #CriticalThinking #UkraineInitiative #DDay #DoNotNormaliseTheWar

Two and half years since Russia’s full-blown invasion of Ukraine, more than 11,000 civilians have been killed. The longer this tragic war continues, the greater the risk of escalation and spillover. We must stop the suffering and break the cycle of violence – for the sake of the people of Ukraine, the people of Russia, and the world. Today, though the prospects for peace may seem distant, I am inspired by the growing calls for dialogue. So let us intensify our efforts to seek peace in Ukraine – a just, comprehensive and sustainable peace, in line with the UN Charter, international law and resolutions of the General Assembly. The United Nations stands ready to support all efforts towards achieving this goal.

Today is the second anniversary of russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine while its aggression against Ukraine started in 2014. During all this time, russia brought thousands of deaths and severe destruction to Ukrainian territory. 💔💔💔💔 Regardless of how horrific and devastating these times are, Ukrainians do not have the privilege to "turn it off' or change the scene, since it is not the decorum but the real life where all of us are living now. ❤️🩹 We are fighting today for our peaceful life, European values, and democracy against tyranny and evil ignoring world order and the rules of international law. We remember all the heroes who gave their lives for our present and future. Source: We are Ukraine #standwithukraine #supportukraine #warinukraine

❝D-Day was not about caution and half measures but the willingness to take great but calculated risks to achieve an absolutely essential aim.❞ Eight decades later, there is still much to learn from the D-Day landings: the Allied invasion of Europe bares important lessons for Ukraine's allies, while the end of the Nazi regime demonstrates the lengths dictators will go to protect their autocracies. As Putin wages his devastating war in Ukraine, these teachings are more prescient than ever. ⤵ To read this Critical Thinking from Jamie Shea, Senior Fellow at Friends of Europe, follow the link below. #CriticalThinking #UkraineInitiative #DDay #DoNotNormaliseTheWar

8moDear Alliance of Democracies Foundation it is not two years, but 10 years. In 2014, the criminal russian federation started a military aggression - a war, in Ukraine - a separate democratic sovereign state.
