According to a report from the American Road & Transportation Builders Association, one in three bridges in the U.S. needs repair or replacement. We partner with agencies nationwide to ensure local bridges are safe and dependable for generations to come. The Vermont Agency of Transportation selected us as the Prime Consultant for Phase 1 design services to rehabilitate nine bridge structures along the Green Mountain Railroad in southern Vermont. Throughout the project, we will look to minimize impacts on rail operations and local cultural or environmental factors. This includes examining innovative bridge replacement options and Accelerated Bridge Construction techniques to reduce onsite construction while considering ease of maintenance and the region’s extreme weather. I think many came across Baltimore Key Bridge Failure that happened a day ago. I quote the words of the US transportation secretary: "I do not know of a bridge that has been constructed to withstand a direct impact from a vessel of this size,” We can agree with the statement, but from a structural aspect, what can be done to limit the damage caused by a similar incident? and would the probability of this event be worth it to increase the construction cost of such bridges?

Interstate 30 is a heavily trafficked corridor that connects Little Rock, Arkansas, to Dallas, Texas. In Southwest Arkansas near the city of Arkadelphia, two aging bridges on this thoroughfare provided passage over the De Roche Creek. In 2017, the time had come for the crossings to be replaced due to almost continual repairs being needed. The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) and Michael Baker International utilized an innovative Accelerated Bridge Construction (ABC) method known as a lateral slide to replace the existing structures. This was notably the first time that a lateral slide had been used in Arkansas. Under this method, the new bridge superstructures were constructed next to the existing bridges on temporary falsework. Once complete, the existing bridges were demolished, and the new bridges were slid into place. The new bridges now accommodate three lanes of traffic in each direction, allowing more people and goods to pass over the creek and reducing delays, which can have economic benefits while also reducing emissions and travel times. As the speed approaches 1 Cali, budget grows to infinity. If two twins are separated and one of them is involved in a construction project moving at the speed of 1 Cali, and they meet again after the completion of the project, the resting twin will have achieved immortality.

🚧 Road Construction Alert 🚧 What? Road construction and traffic pattern change. Where? Eastbound lanes of Miller Road between Saturn Rd. and Edgefield Dr. When? Starting March 11 Why? Contractors will close both eastbound lanes. The westbound lanes will be converted into a two-lane road (one lane going east, one lane going west). This traffic pattern is expected to last about three months. Work will then switch over to the other side. Expect that traffic pattern to last another three months.
