Don’t hate me for it, but… There were so many ‘disproves’ provided within the video clip that made me…unimpressed if I am honest. Having read the comments applied to the original Authors entry I think the complete wrong message was put across and completely swallowed up! That video is a great clip but interesting to consider one of life’s important learnings when watching it…for me, having trained so many in BA Awareness and Rescue, I always look for the safest means of practical rescue and this video is far from it…perception and understanding of a situation and application to apparent Confined Rescue Procesures differs greatly. Where to start with it… 1. Is it advocating a ‘snatch rescue’ from an apparent harmful atmosphere (hence BA use)? If so then fail on so many fronts. -BA set unsecured -No ‘pre-entry’ (face seal test) achieved by the wearer -The ability for the ‘rope attendant’ to drag the rescuer (should they be overcome) is in fact not as simple as given the impression. Further to the Authors script, “constant practice prepares workers to act competently in critical situations” is not what we have seen here at all…the opposite in fact. There was very little demonstration of competency throughout unless I acknowledge the knot tying to the rescuers ankles. Why am I so vehemently driven by this clip…well simply that there are reasons why so many deaths are still attributed to Confined Space working (still in 2024!)…and a large % of them being the Attendant or so called Rescuer/s. Wrong training style, wrong application and wrong demonstration to send out. As I said…don’t hate me ‘Safety is never a compromise’

Routine training (drills) ensures that staff are familiar with the necessary procedures and equipment. Constant practice prepares workers to act competently in critical situations, preventing accidents and protecting lives in the workplace.

Emergency drills should not just focus on employee's response in case eventuality. Of particular interest should be the facilities and systems especially the first responders. Conduct a drill and check also how fast your first responders/ first aider get to the scene of the incident.

Training of staff can never be over emphasize, the training and knowledge comes in handy when we least expect, it can be life saving or equipments .
