EPISODE 1 OF SEASON 2 DROPS TODAY!!! Decathlon kick off Season 2. The more I heard about the company, the more I realised I was hearing about them in different parts of the international #padel ecosystem. They seemed to be involved in and supporting from every angle. In this episode I speak to Federico Fraguela Ferro and Frederic Oudeville from Decathlon UK and DECATHLON FRANCE respectively, who take us inside the company's: 🎯 Proposition 😇 Values 🎾 Relationship with Padel 🤹♀️ Various verticals in which it supports the sport. We also throw Mark Hewlett into the mix. His first Soul Padel club sits on Decathlon soil, so he was able to talk as a partner/outsider about how that relationship comes to life. Definitely worth a listen. https://lnkd.in/eZJ9SruP GENERAL NOTE: Episodes in this Season 2 will be much less regular than in Season 1, since I am undertaking a pretty intense course at Harvard Business School. But those with some patience and flexibility, will definitely be rewarded. We have some great episodes in the pipeline! Also I won't be posting on X any more as I don't think it adds much to my marketing mix and awareness raising for the podcast and its episodes. Feel free to catch the episode on Youtube as a video or podcast, as well as on popular podcast platforms like Apple, Spotify etc.

I was very impressed by Jim Farley on The Smoking Tire Podcast - shout out to Matt Farah and Zack Klapman for creating a great platform and community where this kind of rich discussion can occur. As a professional communicator, a few things stood out to me in this discussion - Jim’s passion, acumen in the many dimensions of his company, vision, and humanity. It is a dream set of capabilities to create an authentic conversation: passion - for the brand, for motorsport, for building incredible products for customers, deep market and financial acumen - when recounting sales figures, hybrid vs. EV market segmentation, vision - he demonstrated mastery of Ford’s future vision for electrification, the current customer reality and autonomy, and what is a real x-factor for so many, humanity. “Selfaware enough to know that when I go to the race track, there is going to be someone with a Super Duty who said, ‘You let me down, and I’m pissed off.” I’m betting that wasn’t in the prep doc, but the best clients I’ve worked with know when to push the PR folks’ buttons, just a little bit. 😉 Also, I have a ton of respect for Matt Farah, who spends the time to be smart on more than just displacement or lap times. The discussion on product mix, electrification, and autonomy builds on doing the reading, speaking with the experts, and speaking on the topics that are so important to our future because all of these things must co-exist, from enthusiast vehicles to vulnerable road users. Check it out. https://lnkd.in/g3sm8Uw3

Several recent record online classic car auctions have led some to speculate that money laundering may be involved. In my latest Podcast, Jeff Lavery and I discuss the more likely scenario.

I've recently discovered the Backcountry Marketing Podcast by Port Side Productions and have been ripping through episodes. Here are a few quotes that stuck with me from their latest guests: Chris Burkhard: "To me, inspiration is always king .... If a brand can inspire me, I want to support them. If a brand can get me off the couch, I want to support them." (Link: http://bit.ly/3EizAq9) Kate West of Huckberry's DIRT: "Good creative is a product of very very very hard work. Find your people. Working with friends and having vulnerability and honesty with your team is the best way to evolve your creative. (Link: https://bit.ly/4gkiRjt) Kyle Pusateri of Garmin: [When pitching a brand] "Do your homework ... pitch yourself. Tell me how this idea fits within our current ecosystem. Tell me what you saw on our Garmin.com, Youtube, or socials that impressed you. Here's some work that I've done that could compliment what your building. .... Don't expect sending me forty-five page treatment on a brand film will do it" (Link: https://bit.ly/4jGQ77g)

The Hedonic Treadmill in Sales! Well, to be honest, you don't even have to be in Sales! Last week we were on a call and to our surprise, the lady on the call said to us ... "I've been listening to your podcast and I love it! I don't even work in sales and I've found so much value in the topics you discuss and I love your conversational tone, when is the next one!" It took me by surprise, but yes, I suppose when I think about the topics we've covered, they are so relatable to many different jobs, roles, and situations we can all find ourselves in. This topic was chosen by Lucy Lee and it was a great one! In this conversation, we unpack the concept of the Hedonic Treadmill, which refers to the idea that people return to a baseline level of happiness regardless of positive or negative experiences and how, understanding what truly makes you happy will help drive you daily and encourage you to use your rewards wisely.
