Australia’s energy transition requires an unprecedented infrastructure build: a footprint of up to 120,000 square kilometres, which is more than half the size of Victoria. Achieving this goal is only possible with widespread public support. But governments, industry and renewable energy project developers are struggling to get traction. Community anxiety, fatigue and uncertainty have increased opposition to renewable developments. In the latest in our Pathways to Net Zero series, we explore how energy projects can gain and maintain a social licence to operate. Drawing on our work with renewable energy developers, governments, investors and resource companies, we offer recommendations on strategies to reinvent community engagement and build trust. The renewable energy sector represents a frontier of innovation and sustainability that has captivated my interest profoundly. Through immersion in various platforms, I've encountered a plethora of groundbreaking ideas and projects aimed at enhancing the efficiency of renewable energy sources. However, one recurring thought persists: the desire to provide tangible support to transform these visionary concepts into tangible realities. While my professional journey hasn't led me to helm a firm dedicated to financing such projects, my passion remains unwavering. I envision establishing a venture where aspiring innovators in the renewable energy domain can pitch their ideas, and upon evaluation for viability, receive the necessary financial backing. The renewable energy landscape is burgeoning, yet skepticism persists, and the gap between innovative ideas and actualized projects remains pronounced. Many individuals and entities possess the blueprint, the equipment, but lack the financial means to materialize their vision. My envisioned firm would not only extend financial support but also provide ongoing mentorship and operational guidance, akin to a trusted partner. Conceptually akin to financial services like life insurance, the core mission of my proposed firm is clear: to catalyze the transition towards 100% renewable energy utilization globally. While this aspiration may seem audacious, I perceive it as a rallying cry for collective action and innovation. My hope is not to hoard this vision but to inspire others to embark on similar endeavors, collectively steering humanity towards a sustainable future. #opentowork #renewable #windturbine #solar #busniess #financing #loans #advisor #brainstorming #marketing #Eco #Ecofriendly

A conundrum of massive scale. The road to Net-Zero in Australia is going to take some next-level coordination for all involved, let alone to watch out for redundant and duplicate activities on the engagement front. The requirement to engage early and broadly across multiple fronts is important but what seems even more critical is the need for innovation, and I'm not talking about the infrastructure. How do we better assess and evaluate our engagement practices, and use this evaluation to push for new innovation for engagement teams? This is a goal of ours at Communiti Labs...ultimately looking to improve outcomes for communities and make an impact from the ground up. Dan Ferguson
