I’m happy to share my first publication: a review exploring the bidirectional interplay between diabetes and pancreatic cancer. Pancreatic cancer has a 5-year survival rate below 10%. Over 85% of patients show impaired glucose tolerance, and new-onset diabetes increases the risk of pancreatic cancer by 6 to 8 times. Thus, stressing this interplay may help identify high-risk individuals for a targeted screening for this deadly malignancy at a treatable stage. So, how prevalent is ecDNA in cancer? ecDNA are present in about 14% of cancer at diagnosis and up to 32% of advanced cancers, across multiple tumor types. That is one reason why Boundless is working tirelessly to bring transformative new medicines to patients with oncogene amplified cancer through ecDNA-directed therapies (ecDTx), making treatment more effective and offering new possibilities for patients to overcome this challenging disease.
