This is probably the smartest Lockheed L1049H Super Constellation. The story of REAL Aerovias, Redes Estaduais Aéreas Ltda, begins with the vision of two former TACA pilots, Vicente Mammana Netto and Linneu Gomes. These two aviation enthusiasts laid the airline's foundation. They also started Aerovias Brasil, a Brazilian airline that later formed a consortium with Real. Real Airlines ordered four L1049H aircraft in May 1957 to compete with Varig. These Super Connies were delivered in February/March 1958 and served routes connecting Buenos Aires to Trinidad, Caracas, and Miami/Chicago. As time passed, the airline expanded its services to include Bogota, Mexico, and Los Angeles. In May 1960, the Los Angeles route was extended to Tokyo via Honolulu and Wake Island. However, the expansion took its toll on the airline, leading to Varig's gradual purchase of the consortium Real-Aerovias-Nacional between May and August 1961. Just stop with the single-pilot conversations in reference to commercial aviation. Air Line Pilots Association president Jason Ambrosi sharply criticized the industry-led push to eliminate pilots from flight decks in a speech to the Air Line Pilots Association International this week. “I believe that this issue is the single greatest threat to aviation safety. This is about removing pilots—all of us—from the flight deck over time,” he said. Ambrosi suggested that there is a systematic effort to roll back numbers of crewmembers across all flights, beginning with cargo crews—but with the intent of expanding to passenger flights.
