This #MemberMonday we’re excited to introduce you to our Rachael Emerick, MBA, CSW, an AVP of Sales Operations & Enablement at Kemper as well as our own Sales Director. Read on to learn about Rachael’s motivation and why she’s dedicated to the American Cancer Society mission. What inspires you to support the American Cancer Society through its Associate Board of Ambassadors (ABOA)? I support this cause in memory of my loved ones who have been touched by cancer. I aim to carry on their legacy of impact and to bring our world one step closer to making cancer a thing of the past. What is your favorite memory from being an ABOA member? Attending my first Discovery Ball and Skyline Soiree in 2023. That was my first full year on the ABOA board so I’m looking forward to experiencing these events for a second time. When you think about your time on the ABOA, what are you most proud of? I'm proud to have spread the ACS's mission and impact to my personal and professional communities. If you could have dinner with 3 living celebrities (all together), who would they be? Dax Shepherd, Dan Levy, and Jane Fonda. If you could live anywhere in the world for a year, where would it be? Provence If you could see one movie again for the first time, what would it be and why? Crazy, Stupid, Love – to relive the first experience of the plot twist. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given? Act like the person you want to become.

I am delighted to share my additional new role as member of the Advisory Board of CureScience (https://lnkd.in/e2J-aVFm). CureScience (https://lnkd.in/eycv7qiR) is a not-for-profit, patient-centeric organization, we are committed in transforming hope into cure for each and every patient diagnosed with glioblastoma (GBM) and other brain cancers. Grim facts about GBM and CureScience’s hope to patients: GBM is one of the most dangerous and aggressive form of brain cancer. The average survival period for glioblastoma patients is estimated to be only 8 months, with five-year survival rate being only 6.9%. The survival rates and mortality statistics for GBM have remained unchanged for decades. Each year nearly 250,000 people are diagnosed with GBM globally. The standard of care (SOC) for GBM has also remained unchanged, which involves chemotherapy using the DNA alkylating agent, temozolomide (TMZ). CureScience’s mission is to change these grim facts about GBM into hope by discovering and developing effective treatment options that will improve the overall survival (OS) and quality of life (QOL) of each and every patient, regardless of their socio-economic status or geographical location. CureScience Scientific team works closely with world renowned neuro-oncologists and neurosurgeons involved in clinical trials which helps in gaining access and insight into responses and outcomes of ongoing trials and treatments. CureScience approach is to expeditiously evaluate approved drugs and their combinations for improved efficacy and superior clinical outcome and make these treatments available to patients in the shortest possible time. GBM and other brain cancer patients from any part of the world are encouraged to contact CureScience (https://lnkd.in/epUAyn2w) for help, advice, guidance and treatment options. If you are aware of anyone in need of help, please guide them to contact CureScience or reach out to me directly. CureScience is a not-for-profit organization, all the R & D activities is made possible by philanthropic donations. Please consider donating to the organization (https://lnkd.in/eDR3M6MY), your support and donations will save lives and help find better treatments for this aggressive form of cancer.

We love when a presentation leads to new things! Yesterday, our own Anne Loehr (she/her/hers) was a keynote speaker at the Association of Cancer Executives annual meeting. As a result of what they learned, four leaders from different organizations are going to connect and start an Emotional Intelligence (EI) group to help raise EI awareness. Way to go! #emotionalintelligence #ei #keynotespeaker #keynote
