Data has proven to be one of the most expensive things to come by this days in which ever endeavor you need it’s applications. This MOOC KoboToolbox Academy has taught me so much right from Need assessment to actual engagement, signifying the importance of data to aid disaster response and timely intervention. This free training program is specifically designed for humanitarian organizations to provide an overview of the humanitarian needs assessment process. This e-learning resource is provided by #Kobo the nonprofit behind KoboToolbox, and was co-developed with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). This MOOC also highlights on the need for responsibility in data management as the final decision made based on the data available will go a long way to aid building resilience and sustainability in developing communities. #SDGs #Humanitarian #Development #YouthMappers.

Today is the #DayforLearning. In recent ALNAP research, 46% of humanitarians cited a lack of time and capacity as one of the main barriers to accessing and using knowledge and evidence to improve humanitarian action. As the nature of crises evolves and humanitarians are challenged to work differently, our ability to learn and change must be equally adaptive and dynamic. This means transforming our thinking: stepping off well-trodden linear learning paths, unpicking power relations within the system, creating a more inclusive learning environment and accelerating the pace of change. Our colleagues here at Elrha and in the UK Humanitarian Innovation Hub are taking time today to do some learning of their own. Across the team we are: Attending a workshop by Bond UK on Anti-Racist Communications Listening to a podcast on the increasingly politicised status of health workers: https://lnkd.in/eMK7WKKM Learning about decolonisation and Shifting the Power in MEAL: https://lnkd.in/ex_hBMU8 Strengthening our foundational understanding of innovation management in humanitarian settings: https://lnkd.in/ebHY9aUg Understanding challenges to knowledge translation in the Global South: https://lnkd.in/ebY8PMKn Watching back a webinar on participant and community-led storytelling for INGOs: https://lnkd.in/ejDSvpkE Attending a report launch about Somali capacities to respond to crisis – and how the international aid sector can effectively support them: https://lnkd.in/dq8JNmeg Let us know how you’re using your Day of Learning in the comments! #UnlockLearning #WithLearningComesChange

What better moment to recommit yourself to learning than on the extra day we all get this year? There's a greater need than ever to unlock the rich learning that already exists within our sector to tackle the humanitarian challenges of our time head on.
