The best preparation you can have in life is to always show up. No matter what just show up. Show up for your family and friends. Show up for your business. Show up at the gym. Show up for that marketing program. Show up for your course to get that knowledge and information. Show up in places where there is power and influence. Show up at important events. Showing up positions you to be surrounded by people and things that matter. The more you show up, the more your face becomes familiar to people who can make a difference. Just keep showing up. There is a chance that something good will happen to you. The secret to lasting success is SHOWING UP. The fear of showing up takes the image of a lion that dares you to come out. Shun it. And show up. #nigeria #africa #todayafrica #africanstories #africanentrepreneur #storytelling

🏆 Unveiling Insights from the African Cup of Nations 2024: Embracing Preparation, Positioning, and Total Wellness 🌍⚽️ The recent clash between Nigeria and Ivory Coast in the African Cup of Nations was more than a match; it was a captivating display of talent, passion, and intense competition. While Nigeria faced a challenging 2-1 loss, the experience holds crucial lessons in preparation, positioning, and total wellness that extend beyond the football field. Preparation stands as the cornerstone of success, as evident in the meticulous efforts of athletes preparing for high-stakes tournaments. Like footballers honing their skills and studying opponents, we, too, must diligently prepare for life's challenges, be it in our careers, relationships, or overall well-being. Positioning, a key determinant of success, was evident on the football field as players strategically placed themselves for impact. Similarly, in our lives, effective positioning involves recognizing our strengths, finding our niche, and creating opportunities for success. Yet, success isn't complete without total wellness – a holistic balance of physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Just as athletes prioritize fitness and resilience, we must focus on self-care, seeking support, and maintaining overall well-being to navigate life's challenges and perform at our best. The recent Nigerian team's loss serves as a reminder that, in defeat, there are profound lessons. It emphasizes the journey's significance and the growth experienced along the way. Each match and challenge offers opportunities for personal and collective development. Inspired by the African Cup of Nations, let's apply these lessons to our lives. Prioritize preparation, effective positioning, and total wellness to pursue success. These principles, applicable on and off the field, guide us through life's highs and lows with resilience, determination, and a commitment to continuous improvement. As we cheer for our favourite teams, let's also applaud our unwavering commitment to personal growth. The recent events, including the intense semi-final match and the tragic loss of lives, underscore the importance of balance not just for footballers but also for spectators. May the tournament remind us that success is not just about winning matches but embracing the journey and the lessons learned along the way. #AfricanCupOfNations #NigeriaSuperEagles #Positioning #wellnesscoach #silvermedal #secondplace #personalgrowthjourney #Success #football 🌐⚽️

Much of my conversation lately has surrounded the decline of sport development in South Africa. Presenter Jon Gericke from SAfm (SABC) and I dived into this crucial topic and uncovered what I believe to be our leading challenges and solutions. Here are the key takeaways: 1. Grassroots Development: We need to address the challenges hindering grassroots sports in South Africa, such as crime and the lack of resources. To produce top-quality sportspeople we need adequate facilities, equipment and structured coaching programs. 2. Collaboration and Accountability: To achieve progress, we need collaboration among stakeholders, including politicians, administrators and sports bodies. Accountability is key to ensure that funding and resources are utilised effectively. 3. Business and Tourism Opportunities: Successful sporting teams can contribute to our economy by attracting business and tourism. This translates into more job opportunities and a positive impact on the country. 4. Moving Towards a Value-Driven Society: It is time for South Africa to transition into a value-driven society rather than one based on race. We need to focus on shared values that bring people together and move beyond divisive mentalities - the Springbok rugby team has proved this! 5. Looking Towards the Future: It is crucial to align South Africa’s economic and sporting goals. By leveraging business acumen and recognising the holistic impact of sport, we can shape a prosperous future for our country. NBA AFRICA'S DREAMS TURN INTO NIGHTMARES AND REGRETS 🏀 The National Basketball Association (NBA)'s foray into #Africa has largely been a failure with investors losing most of the capital already invested. In 2021, a large funding round was closed and all indications are that the capital is spent with prospects for future funding bleak. Who are some of the #investors in that round? 💸 #BarackObama, 💸 #GrantHill, 💸 #LuolDeng, 💸 #MoIbrahim, 💸 Nike, 💸 MTN, 💸 PepsiCo, and 💸 Helios Fairfax Partners NBA Africa's mistake seems to be that it rushed in too aggressively and sought to make "too big of a splash". It has experienced success in #China, #Japan, the #Philippines, #Israel, #UAE, #Mexico, #Argentina, and #Europe. In these markets, it tested the waters and responded to market dynamics to build appropriate and sustainable businesses. Not so with its Africa venture. The league struggles in Africa for several reasons including: (1) ticket prices being out of reach for most fans, (2) lack of readily available and well-maintained #basketball facilities, (3) small marketing budgets, (4) the best players in Africa get poached to America so the Africans are left watching the leftover players, and (5) other sports like #soccer are well entrenched and difficult to replace. The NBA case study is a good one for investors considering a first investment in Africa. There is something about Africa, for some investors, that makes them mistakenly go all in. 🎲 Read: https://lnkd.in/gHFuuPmA

Impact Investment Lead @FirstRand| Committed to leveraging my extensive skill set and diverse experience to drive positive change in our society.
We won by a point (France), one point (England), just to prove a point (New Zealand)!!! Inclusivity can win trophies! What a tension, what a wow 😆👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Much like the path of our nation, riddled with tension!!! The battles fought on the field mirror the struggles we face as a collective. Yet, despite the odds stacked against us, we continue to fight, to push forward, and to emerge triumphant in ways that leave the experts astounded and unable to clearly attribute our success. As we celebrate, we draw inspiration from the Bok game. Let us remember that, like the team, we are stronger together. We continue to pray, to fight, and to overcome, defying expectations and surpassing the limits set upon us. For we are South Africa, a nation that rises above, a nation that endures, and a nation that, against all odds, emerges victorious; even if it’s by just a point (France), one point (England), just to prove a point (New Zealand) 😆 #SouthAfrica #gobokke #strongertogether
