We were established in South Africa at the dawn of democracy in 1994 as a leader in transformation. Since then, we have grown by investing in sophisticated communication infrastructure, developing new technologies and by harnessing the talent of our diverse people to offer services to communities in Africa and the Middle East. Our strategic intent is Ambition 2025: Leading digital solutions for Africa’s progress, harnessing the power of MTN – our leading brand, footprint, connectivity infrastructure and technology platforms. Our strategy is anchored in building the largest and most valuable platform business with a clear focus on Africa. This rests on a scale connectivity and infrastructure business – mobile and fixed access networks in the consumer, enterprise and wholesale segments. We are accelerating implementation through partnerships. Our strategy is supported and funded through enhanced cost and capex efficiencies.

At MTN, we believe that when women thrive, communities prosper. As we celebrate #IWD2025, with the theme "For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment," we reaffirm our commitment to empowering women across Africa and beyond. Nompilo Morafo, MTN Group’s Chief Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Officer, highlights the crucial role of women entrepreneurs in driving economic growth. “Women entrepreneurs are pivotal in transforming communities,” she says, yet they face significant challenges, including limited access to finance." One of our key tools in our efforts is thorough our Mobile Money business (MoMo from MTN), which enhances financial inclusion for women. In many markets, traditional banking services are often inaccessible. MoMo from MTN provides a safe and convenient way for women to manage their finances. For example, Joyce Ssebugwawo, a small-scale farmer in Uganda, uses MoMo from MTN to expand her market reach and achieve financial independence. Our commitment extends across Africa, partnering with local incubators to support women-led startups. In Ghana, the MoMo Entrepreneurship Programme helps women integrate digital payment solutions into their businesses, broadening their customer base. As we celebrate #IWD2025, we call on governments, businesses, and individuals to join us in breaking down barriers for women. At MTN empowering women is our mission. Together, let’s ensure they have the rights, resources, and opportunities to thrive. Read more: https://bit.ly/3F6VgWu #DoingForTomorrowToday

At #MWC25, we had the privilege of signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations of Ghana and MTN Ghana. This agreement represents an exciting opportunity to enhance digital skills, support artificial intelligence (AI) development, and strengthen data governance and cybersecurity for young Ghanaians. As our Group President & CEO Ralph Mupita remarked, “We are very happy to support the building out of the digital ecosystem that will be a catalyst for growth and expansion to meet Ghana’s socio-economic objectives. We must develop our own talent, our own software engineers, and do more around coding to ensure that young people in Ghana have opportunities not only in Ghana but all over the world.” Hon. Samuel Nartey George , Ghana's Minister of Communications, highlighted the significance of this collaboration. He shared that the MTN building, donated to the government, will serve as a center of excellence for AI and software development. He expressed his commitment to working alongside us as we move toward launching the One Million Coders program before May 7th this year. As MTN, we are deeply committed to supporting Ghana’s digital strategy. We believe in the potential of our youth and look forward to seeing the positive impact of this initiative on the economy and society as a whole.
