I love the beginning of the year. It’s the best time to evaluate the results of the previous year, but also to plan and strategise for the new one. This week I organised with my team the now traditional meeting - PAT-FILING Kick-off. We reflected on all our achievements but also on what we could have done better. We reminesced about good times and tense moments (yes, we all have them), we had some fun together and enjoyed the warm atmosphere within the team. How was 2023 for us? - We experienced an increase in workload, yet the pressure was manageable in the team 📊 - We filed patent applications in jurisdictions like Australia, Brazil, Bahamas, Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Indonesia, South Africa (and many more), representing the interests of our clients overseas and cementing our reputation as a global patent filer 🏆 - We have integrated new colleagues into our team and established a safe place to learn and develop. As we continue to introduce our company history through our 2024 calendar, the theme chosen for June is "上を見て歩こう" which roughly translates to ”Let’s keep our chin up, facing the sky as we walk forward" It was the 1960's when Japan was riding a wave of high economic growth, and Fujimori Kogyo was addressing customer challenges one after another, rapidly iterating failed prototypes to achieve market-ready products for our customers. During the early stages of production development, Cubitainer, SPZ and retort pouch packaging for Bon Curry all proved difficult to achieve stable production and commercialization. Of course, all of these are well known products in Japan now. But the valuable learning from these challenging developments has given us the competence we needed to further develop our products and achieve top market shares across multiple different industries. In addition, our expansion into the logistics industry with industrial strength coverings freight shipments (HI-PY sheets) was a turning point for us, as this drove us to be one of the first companies in Japan to establish an overseas subsidiary when other companies were still hesitating for sake of related uncertainties.
