I have an interest in design graphic, and I glad that I can have experienced to be teached by design thinking and visual communication teacher from University of Sydney. I need to say Big Thanks to Beasiswa Indonesia Maju because I learned a lot from this experience. 😉👏 First of all let me tell you what I've got in this Winter Program. 1. Academic, this is where I learned about design thinking, visual communication, leadership, and also international global studies. 2. Leadership, this is how I learned to be person that organize some people and leading to the goals. 3. Cultural immersion, this is where I learned about many slangs in Australia, many cultures in Australia, how I teach many slangs in Indonesia and many cultures in Indonesia After all the knowledge that I've learned, I do implement my knowledge to the target that I've mentioned in action plan I teach how to design with canva and figma to my friends, my juniors, and also many people. One of my best is when share my knowledge after the winter program to my friends who has competition project and they bring the Silver Medals home!.🤩 There's also another implements, it is on TeaTeams. I show them the design based on the visual communication that I've learned. Storyboarding can save you time and money! 💸 Sedikit-Sedikit Belajar and I had worked on a project with The Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK RI) to develop 10 interactive multimedia. They specifically required the job done within 2 weeks time. Coming from the books, storyboarding in instructional development is a necessity and during my undergraduate study, I hadn't fully internalized its importance. So when our client requested a tight deadline, I my mistake was thinking "sometimes we don't live in the books" And yeah, we skipped the storyboarding part. Thankfully we had finished the job on time. However, presenting the draft to the client revealed a lot of minor but time-consuming changes and revisions. "I think the font is too small" "I don't really like the color" "Why did you include this material? I think its unimportant" This type of revisions highlighted the importance of a structured approach. While a full storyboard wouldn't be Ideal for our timeframe either. Now, I believe that a simpler version outlining few design elements and basically something we both can agree on will act as protector against minor "I change my mind" moments from your clients. How do culture and societal norms impact experiences? Let’s look at children’s toys in different cultures as they hold some insights for product design professionals. Asian countries are very personal when it comes to human interaction. It’s common for couples to live with extended families. A single household can have 3 - 4 generations living together. People are used to a lot of human interaction from their early years. When I traveled to Pakistan from the US, I would often gift award-winning toys for my nephews and nieces, but I was frequently disappointed when they didn't fall in love with them. I gradually observed that toys in Western countries are designed to help the child play independently so the parents can work on their tasks. But children in Asia are far more likely to be around family members, friends and house staff because children are used to being entertained and fussed over by the people around them. So it wasn’t a surprise that toys that taught independence weren’t enthusiastically received. After experiencing this shift in cultural upbringing, I realized that digital products need to imitate the personal touch in the East where customers are used to having people help each other out. They appreciate guidance from someone, every step of the way. When I worked on products that we took to another country our primary focus was on 3 things: language, translation, and payment systems. To increase adoption western countries need to understand these cultural nuances. One way is to replicate that is to create digital training hubs in partnership with local players that establish trust and give customers the personal service that they are used to. Something to think about for product designers as we continue to create experiences that are truly global. #designinasia #uxdesign #uxlife

Breaking down barriers @Cikarang Industrial Expo 2024🌎 Overcoming language barriers was my biggest concern for this event 🤔. Filipino and Bahasa Indonesia are so similar that it was uncanny to hear conversations that sounded so familiar but I couldn't understand 🗣. Fortunately, Kathleen Yasmin, our translator, was an absolute rockstar! 🤩 With just a little bit of explanation about the app, she was able to explain the UI in no time ⏱. It might be presumed that developing countries are ideal destinations for foreign direct investment (#FDI), and this could potentially lead to a transformation towards a #knowledge-based economy, driven by increased research and development (#R&D) activities. However, this hypothesis doesn't appear to find support in the case of #ASEAN. While ASEAN has consistently attracted global investors, two distinct phenomena have emerged: 1. Total Factor Productivity (#TFP): In technical terms, considering a production function Y = AK^a L^b, where K and L represent capital and labor respectively, the variable A signifies TFP. This concept, devised by Nobel Prize-winning economist Robert Solow, quantifies the influence of technological advancements and shifts in worker knowledge. Thus, for the majority of ASEAN countries, TFP has shown a consistent trend of being low or even negative. 2. ASEAN's Research and Development (R&D) Contribution: Since TFP is closely linked to R&D, it's noteworthy that ASEAN's contribution to R&D has remained notably modest despite influx of FDI. I am deeply honored to supervise the bachelor thesis conducted by Tarisha Yuliana which astutely demonstrates that a heightened influx of FDI does not necessarily correspond to an increase in both R&D and innovation capabilities. These factors collectively contribute to the persistent lower TFP observed in the majority of ASEAN countries. Therefore, one of the significant focal points for Indonesia's ASEAN #presidency in 2023 should be to deeply address this matter and endeavor to find solutions among the member states. The realization of innovative capabilities as a fundamental determinant of ASEAN's future success ought to be emphasized. This underscores the need for a robust internal R&D and innovation ecosystem within ASEAN, thereby diminishing the reliance on foreign entities to carry out R&D activities.
