📝 The Ministry of Education (MoE) released a draft of management regulations for after-school tutoring (AST) 校外培训管理条例 (征求意见稿)on February 8, seeking public opinion. 📈 The majority of the draft aligns with existing "Double Reduction" 双减 rules from July 2021, but emphasizes encouraging non-academic AST providers and addressing AST demands. 💡 No significant changes are anticipated in the regulations governing K-9 academic AST. 💼 Major players like EDU and TAL stand to benefit from potential support for non-academic AST, catering to parents' needs. 💰 High-school AST, constituting 25% of EDU's revenue and 19% of TAL's revenue in F24, could see expansion with reduced regulatory concerns. 🎯 Leading companies like EDU and TAL are expected to capitalize on sustained demand for non-academic AST and educational technology. 🚀 The release of the draft seeking feedback could alleviate investor worries about regulatory uncertainties. 🔍 Investors may find reassurance in a more predictable regulatory environment, potentially boosting confidence in education sector investments.

This is another very bullish sign for the future of China gaming industry regulations. The crackdown on the private education industry in China long before the current gaming imbroglio was an order of magnitude more devastating in social, cultural, and economic effect. I have friends who lost their livelihoods and hukou / visas due to these regulations. Bringing sensible regulatory predictability to these markets will be of massive benefit to investor sentiment and more importantly to the Chinese people and their connections with the international community. Looking forward to maybe a piece by Greg Pilarowski and Pillar Legal, P.C. on what to make of these developments!

🎉 Thrilled to share the launch of our newest research program at CID, Global Education and Research: Unleashing Potential (GEAR:UP), led by CID Faculty Director Asim Ijaz Khwaja, HKS Professor Michela Carlana, and HGSE Professor Emiliana Vegas. The GEAR:UP initiative aims to support research and programs to transform education systems. Our driving research questions: ✔️ Education at its most impactful, has always been a highly personalized journey. How can we shift the focus from producing students who are adept at standardized tests to cultivating skills that create more productive and socially impactful individuals? ✔️ Researchers and policymakers increasingly recognize that a person's learning journey requires a more comprehensive systems approach. The shift from viewing education issues discretely to viewing education as a collective problem involves a full-spectrum view across time and space, necessitating collaboration across various types of people and actors. How can we more effectively identify frictions stakeholders face that prevent them from effectively educating children? ✔️ The systems approach can be a game changer in implementing personalized learning journeys. However, the current landscape of data and tools available prevent actors from adopting a systems approach. How can we use data science, big data, and advancements in AI to transform education systems and deliver equitable education for each child? #Education #GlobalDev #SDGs #EducationPolicy #HumanDevelopment #SDG4 Harvard Kennedy School Harvard Graduate School of Education 📚 🌎 Learn more: https://bit.ly/3VpUSqR

We know that UK #university league tables have different areas of focus, but how different are the results they produce? The latest #highereducation #dashboard from UniViz compares the three major UK league tables and shows just how different they can be. Although there is broad agreement over the top 10, after this there are some huge swings – Bolton could appear 30th or 120th depending on where a potential #student looks. Filter by institution type or mission group, or show just a competitor set to see how this data affects your university. The dashboard also creates an average ranking to smooth out the differences and changes – see where your institution places. Link to the dashboard is in the comments below 👇👇👇 If you would like to see this at a subject level, please get in touch. Follow UniViz to ensure you see future dashboards first.
