BlackRock's Bitcoin spot ETF starts trading in Brazil.  BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT) started trading on the Brazilian stock exchange B3, bringing the US Bitcoin spot ETF product, launched on January 11, 2024, to Brazil, per a CoinDesk report. It will be interesting to see whether this Brazilian Bitcoin spot ETF may bring similar interest from investors in Brazil. Also, may this expansion into Brazil become a starting point that some (if not all) of the current SEC-approved Bitcoin spot ETFs may start being provided to other overseas investors outside US as well?  These ETF products may, presumably, need to go through relevant local regulatory requirements, as needed. It will be interesting to see whether there will be other offerings of any of these ETFs in other countries soon and how much impact such overseas offering may make in the virtual asset markets of the relevant local country as well as in the global level. This week, the Brazilian Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM) has approved a Solana-based exchange-traded fund (ETF). It is the first product of its kind in Brazil and among the first Solana-based exchange-traded products (ETPs) globally. The first was launched by Swiss-based investment product provider 21Shares on the SIX Swiss Exchange back in June 2021. According to CVM, the Solana ETF is in a pre-operational stage, so it has yet to be approved by the Brazilian stock exchange, B3. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/eXsUupcW #solana #ETFs #crypto

#Fidelity Files for Spot #Ethereum #ETF, Says Approval Would Be 'Major Win' For US Investors. Following rival firm #Blackrock, asset management giant Fidelity has also filed for a spot ether ETF. The filing reveals that the ‘Fidelity Ethereum Fund’ would be listed by an exchange owned by Cboe Global Markets if approved. It also claimed that the approval of a Spot ETH ETP would represent “a major win for the protection of U.S. investors in the crypto asset space," as investors are reportedly facing significant risk without such products as they seek alternative, riskier ways to get exposure. #bitcoin #blockchain #fintech #wealthmanagement #crypto https://lnkd.in/eUnTFMn7

My comments to CoinDesk today on Ethereum: According to Ilan Solot, co-head of digital assets at Marex Solutions, the pessimism might actually lead to ether outperformance. "The ubiquitous pessimism is a strong set-up for outperformance. Same for the sell the news strategy, many will try to replay from the BTC ETF," Solot said in an email. "However, I fear many inflow predictions could be over-benchmarked by comparing them to the BTC ETF numbers (like “ETH will attract 20% of BTC ETF inflows”). The prevalence of delta-neutral trades [carry trades] may muddle the comparison and overestimate potential price impacts."

For the first time in its 3-month existence, BlackRock’s spot bitcoin ETF did not register an inflow. Among the 11 ETFs, only Fidelity and ARK's ETFs saw any inflows, according to data from Farside. Out of the remaining ETFs, 8, including BlackRock, saw zero money coming in, while Grayscale’s GBTC fund saw outflows of $130.4 million. This led to an overall outflow of $120.6 million from all the ETFs, the highest since April 17. #bitcoin #etfs #blackrock

Bitcoin ETF trading volume in just 3 days exceeded $10 billion! Eric Balchunas, Bloomberg's Chief ETF Analyst, exclaimed, "This is an insane number!" To put it into perspective, in 2023, a total of 500 ETFs were launched, and their combined trading volume for the entire year amounted to $450 million.
