Hundreds of initiatives taken by Bihar Rural Livelihoods Promotion Society (JEEViKA) are making a tremendous impact on millions of rural women in Bihar. However, it's often the case that learned individuals and professionals are unaware of these transformative initiatives, programs, and policies. As a result, they may not be able to provide the guidance needed when they visit rural Bihar for their work. Awareness is the key component for driving development and creating a lasting impact within the community and among stakeholders, beyond JEEViKA (BRLPS). 🌱 Building Socially Just and Socially Secure Panchayats for Rural Prosperity 🌱 Gram Panchayats are at the forefront of ensuring #economic prosperity and social justice for #ruralIndia. Achieving this requires sensitivity, coordination, integration and an inclusive approach at the grassroots level. Recognizing the importance of this, the Ministry of Panchayati Raj (#MoPR) and the Government of Bihar (#BiharPanchayatRaj) organized a 3-day workshop in Patna on ‘Socially Just and Socially Secured Panchayats’. This workshop brought attention to critical issues like inclusivity, gender equity, social protection and community empowerment. It was an honour for Transform Rural India to be part of this important discussion. Our Associate Director, Jitendra Pandit, presented the impactful work of Nari Adhikaar Kendra (NAK). These centers, technically supported by TRI, are helping Panchayats become socially just and secure by addressing women's issues, connecting them with entitlements, livelihoods and resolving gender-related violence. NAKs work in close coordination with #Panchayats, local departments, and SHG federations at the CLF level, making them instrumental in improving women's access to rights and justice. This initiative is aligned with the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (#NRLM) and Panchayat Departments to create a comprehensive support system for rural women. Bharatlal cannot imagine a world without his work. As a weaver, he has spent decades making Banarasi sarees. But things are changing — not as many people are willing to invest in the type of detailed, intricate work Bharatlal does. He has seen specialised Banarasi saree shops around him go out of business and he is worried about the future of the craft. Social protection schemes, like PM Mudra, can help artisans out of financial precarity. But more often than not, citizens are not aware of them or do not know how to apply; or in some cases, they are approached by third-party agents who demand exorbitant fees for their services, like what happened to Bharatlal. Scheme access can play a huge role in helping artisans build thriving businesses — and in doing so, preserve handicraft traditions. We have helped artisans across the country gain access to essential social protection schemes and documents. 🔍 Empowering India's Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) 🌱 The Union Cabinet has given the green light to the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM JANMAN), a groundbreaking initiative to uplift PVTG households and habitations across India. Aimed at providing fundamental facilities and ensuring saturation for key schemes, this move is a significant stride towards holistic development. 🌐 Who are PVTGs? ... Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups, face severe marginalization due to isolation, low population, and distinct socio-economic traits. Living across states like Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu, they grapple with limited access to services, social discrimination, and threats to traditional livelihoods. 🛤 Challenges in Development ...
