In the world of precision engineering, where tolerances are often measured in microns, quality inspection is not just a step in the manufacturing process – it’s a critical safeguard that ensures the reliability, safety, and performance of every component produced. RST works with industries such as aerospace, automotive, medical devices and telecommunications where even the slightest deviation from specifications can lead to significant consequences, so we need to be sure our quality inspection is on the money. One of the primary goals of our Quality Inspection team is to verify that each component meets its specified dimensional tolerances. In precision engineering, the components that we make often need to fit together perfectly in complex assemblies. Our quality inspection team use advanced coordinate measuring machines (CMM’s), laser scanners and optical comparators to check the integrity and accuracy of our components. In addition, our quality inspection processes include material testing, to identify any internal defects such as cracks, voids, or inclusions, that could compromise the component's structural integrity. Quality inspection also includes the evaluation of surface roughness, waviness, and texture ensuring that the surface finish meets the required specifications. Precision engineering components are often subject to stringent industry standards and regulations, particularly in the sectors we work with, such as aerospace, medical devices and telecommunications. Our quality inspection team must ensure that the components we produce comply with these standards and be able to supply the relevant documentation and traceability, ensuring that every step of the manufacturing process is recorded and audited. As a business we have both BS EN ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100D accreditations, meaning that we are recognised for our quality management systems across general precision engineering services and also with the aerospace sector. The Quality team are a key part of RST Engineering and as such they see every single job that comes through the business. Every component that we manufacture goes through our temperature-controlled facility for cleaning and inspection to ensure that the end product to the customer is of the highest standard and accuracy. By prioritizing our quality inspection services, RST not only safeguards the integrity of our products but also demonstrates our commitment to excellence in delivering high quality precision engineering products to our customers. #engineering #precisionengineering #accuracy #quality #manufacturing #ukmanufacturing

Ensuring your medical device functions as intended is a major consideration before moving into manufacturing phase. Design verification is the key that unlocks the path to manufacturing and market entry. This process becomes even more crucial as devices grow complex, with intricate components that all need to meet strict standards. Design verification meticulously tests the device against functional, regulatory, performance, and safety requirements, giving you the confidence to move forward. But what kind of tests might the verification process entail? ⚖️ Metrology: Precise functions often demand critical dimensional tolerancing limits. Metrology measures that this specified tolerance is being met. 🦿 Mechanical testing: a vital part of design verification, mechanical testing may include verification of component or assembly performance in terms of strength, durability and reliability, assessed through static, dynamic and life testing. 🌡️ Environmental testing: evaluates a device under the different climatic conditions or mechanical stressors that it is likely to encounter during its life cycle. Simulating these under test conditions can uncover potential issues in design before it goes to manufacture. 💡 ESD testing: Electrostatic Discharge testing is required for devices with electrical components. Its purpose is to check that the functioning of a sensitive device isn't impacted by electrostatic events in the environment it is being used or transported in. The specialized resources, facilities, equipment and processes of our UK and US Design & Product Development teams enable us to support our customers' seamless design transfer with integrated verification testing. Sample preparation and pipetting with Festo With Festo USA products and subsystems, handling sample containers and the pipetting of liquids takes place seamlessly in the same workspace. In the initial step, the EHMD rotary gripping module secures the sample vessel, positions it for bar code identification, and opens it. The second step, pipetting, is carried out in the same workspace. During this step, sample liquid is drawn and dispensed into the microwell plate wells, and the pipette tip is replaced after each cycle. With the Coast Pneumatics engineering team and Festo, solutions like this are just one of the many possibilities. https://lnkd.in/dp2mkgSa #coastpneumatics #pneumatic #pneumatics #festo #fluidpower #flowcontrol #fluidhandling #liquidhandling #pipette #pipetting #dispensing #medical #medicaldevices #labratory #systems #vials #samples #samplehandling #automation #processautomation #engineering #iso #iso90012015
