Excellence is one of our core values at Cooper Elliott… Initially I understood excellence as being the best…. The best attorneys… The best trial verdicts… The best client representatives… I’d argue that I’ve seen excellence emerge in other ways. It’s Sommer driving a client to the doctor when the client couldn’t make it on their own… It’s Lori making a homemade pumpkin pie for a colleague’s birthday celebration in the kitchen… It’s Sean asking if he can pick me up something for lunch… It’s Michael breaking down boxes at a volunteer event, even though nobody asked him to… These are all acts of being excellent human beings. Excellence in this form has nothing to do with being flawless trial attorneys. This is the DNA of a team committed to excellence. It goes beyond the job description and shows itself in the little moments we take for granted everyday. With a keen eye for detail and a passion for her work, Reyhana wrangles in excellent outcomes, and enters a case like a gavel-slinger on a horse. She is a precious part of our firm. Her dedication to our clients and her relentless pursuit of justice makes her an invaluable asset to our team. This month we asked our Spotlight Employees, what is the greatest accomplishment of your life? Reyhana delivered an inspiring message of her journey to becoming an attorney, which highlights her dedication and commitment to this field. 📚Read Reyhana’s response: “In order to speak about my greatest accomplishment thus far, I need to speak about my greatest failure-the Bar Exam. After not receiving a passing result twice, I considered giving up. Picking myself back up each time and convincing myself to try again was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. Just the thought of having to build yourself up to study and take this exam more than once is mentally, physically, and emotionally exhausting. Failure is an experience unlike any other especially when society makes us feel like failure is something to be ashamed of. While the initial jerk reaction to failure is to keep it a secret and away from the world, I think failure is necessary. Failure molds you. And while it might pull you down to the lowest version of yourself, its the exact thing that will allow you to rise to the highest and strongest version of yourself. This experience-this accomplishment, has taught me many things, but most importantly, it taught me that I am stronger than I thought. It taught me to be humble. It taught me to persevere. Looking back. it made me the person and lawyer I am today and that’s something I hold close to my heart. 🌟 Milestone Moment 🌟 Yesterday marked 6 months since opening Featherstone & Associates, and what an incredible journey it has been so far! I did not expect it to take off as quickly as things did, but I have loved every minute of navigating the ride. A big thanks to those who inspired me to pursue a career in litigation 😘 — from navigating complex litigation cases to supporting clients through challenging disputes, it's been a truly rewarding experience 🙏 The biggest wins so far have been the volume of commercial disputes, acting for clients requiring nuanced legal advice with respect to scientific formulas and importation, and athlete onboarding. I never expected to be dealing with the types of disputes we have this early on (some situations remind me of scenes from The People v Larry Flint) but I’m grateful for the trust our clients have placed in us (no longer just the "Royal Us" 😂) and can genuinely say I love what I'm doing. My advice to others thinking of doing the same but are stuck is - Do it. Back yourself. Dive head-first into the chaos that is running a legal practice with no one reviewing your work before it goes out😅 it's a fast way to learn and challenge yourself - you'll see what you're really made of and each hurdle you overcome is extremely rewarding.
