Crop Insurance Provides Certainty Against Unpredictable Weather - We can’t control the weather (or the markets), but we can prepare. Enter crop insurance. This risk management tool acts as a financial safety net for farmers. Cuyler Reynolds, a crop insurance associate covering New York’s Hudson Valley, puts it succinctly: “Crop insurance ensures that a farmer will still be able to farm again next year in the event of a loss outside their control.” Read more about Crop Growers personalized risk management plans and the upcoming Spring Crop Deadline. https://ow.ly/shCX50QHhJ2

With the Sales Closing Deadline approaching, I have been asked several questions regarding the different crop insurance plans and how they work. More specifically, the Enhanced Coverage Option (ECO) and Supplemental Coverage Option (SCO) endorsement. Both endorsements provide coverage for a portion of the deductible of an insured underlying crop insurance policy. These endorsements must be with the same Approved Insurance Provider (AIP) and are continuous. If an insured wants to cancel, this must be done so by the applicable sales closing deadline. Talking to CFOs and Risk/Ops Managers at fruit & nut farms… When it comes to crop insurance, they care about two things: 1) accurate premiums 2) ensuring claims are paid out accurately. Being overinsured is like unused fertilizer; it doesn't yield more fruit, just more expense. And when disaster strikes, the last thing they need is a complicated claims process & and any risk to receiving that claim check. 🍎💸 That’s why we’ve built our insurance service (with aerial imagery and artificial intelligence) to ensure it’s data-backed- that promises accurate coverage—ensuring you only pay for what’s truly at risk—so claims are settled swiftly. It's not just about safeguarding the harvest, it's about transparency throughout the season, knowing which acres produce & not paying for those that don’t. 🌱

Crop Insurance Affordability at Heart of FARMER Act Proposal to make U.S. #CropInsurance at higher coverage levels more affordable. If approved, the proposal (by Senators’ Hoeven (R-N.D), Grassley (R-Iowa) & Ernst (R-Iowa)) would increase the premium support for revenue protection & yield protection policies. That would include: - increasing premium support for certain revenue protection & yield protection policies at the 80% coverage level from 68% to 77% & at the 85% coverage level from 53% to 68%; - increasing premium support for the Supplemental Coverage Option (SCO), an area-based plan, from 65% to 80% & increase the SCO coverage level from 86% to 90%; & - directing the Risk Management Agency to conduct a study to improve the effectiveness of SCO in counties larger than 1,400 square miles. https://lnkd.in/ev48-y5Z
