*Internal Moot Championships 2024 Workshop: Day 1* The Simple Do's and Don'ts With each attendee listening intently while jotting down every little golden nugget of advice they received, clear emphasis was placed on a few important but overlooked areas. The key tips and tricks shared included maintaining eye contact, summarising points succinctly, expanding on points if time permits, and avoiding fillers like "mmms" and "ahhs", making relevant references to authorities, concluding with a summary, and including a prayer for relief were emphasised. Azim also advised speaking politely to the tribunal, engaging with opponents' arguments, and addressing points directly to save time. After the said advice, the first day of the Internal Moot Championships 2024 Workshop concluded. Each mooter left more informed and prepared to handle the stress that comes with the competition. It is no doubt that ABD Azim Bin ABD Razak's expert insights provided aspiring mooters with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in competitions. As they prepare for the next day's workshop, participants are well on their way to becoming confident and competent advocates. Read the full story @ https://lnkd.in/gjgxHG-q

So....... let's put this here then make some comments...... YCA AGM – Secretary for Junior Chess Report The following is John Hipshon’s report to the AGM, available as a separate pdf document here. YCA Junior Secretary Report 2024 15th Grand Prix 149 juniors took part this year which is up again from last year. Average attendance was 82, which is the second highest ever. However, number of girls down again – just 18 this year. Winner this year was Aaron Rich. All events sold out well in advance. UKCC MegaFInal – held in York again and again sold out well in advance - very good event this year and well staffed – thanks to everyone. 112 took part (entry was 120). Yorkshire Junior League Thanks to Andy Wainwright for running this. 20 teams this year with Hull just edging Leeds Juniors out for the division one title on game points. Great competition with 123 taking part. EPSCA U11 team The Yorkshire team won the zonal competition easily in Manchester this year defeating teams from the Northern region. However, a number of the top 10 players said they weren’t available for the final so I withdrew the team – which was very disappointing. The format of the EPSCA competition is under review so that teams are reduced from 20 boards to 12. It is important that we make it clear that if we enter the competition that it is a commitment to play in both zones and final. Yorkshire U18 teams This year we entered 3 teams in the Pennine Cup. This demonstrated a great strength in depth as all teams were competent, and our A team won the competition beating off stiff opposition from Liverpool and Manchester, who both out graded us. I couldn’t be at the competition for the full day so thanks to Andy for looking after, but in the time I was there the kids were so focussed and intent on winning it, and really supported each other which was great to see. Junior Clubs There is continued growth of junior clubs in the county and lots of competitions eg the Ilkley events run by Andy. Recommendations We appoint someone to specifically look at girls’ chess and to run girls only events. We appoint team managers for U11 The expansion of the junior league providing we can find suitable venues. We run a Yorkshire Championship event which has age group champions and girls’ champions.

It amazes me when I think how Moner School has grown from looking for a sponsorship of BDT 2000 to sponsoring an event like Hult Prize. A reminder to all small businesses - keep taking those baby steps. No matter how small they might seem today, they will take you a long way soon. #femalefounders #femaleentrepreneursbangladesh #bangladeshiyouth #changemaking #SDG3 #mentalhealthmatters

https://lnkd.in/et5rmQdU By any standard that was an exceptionally incompetent performance by Scotland at the Euros and in particular, by a mgr. who is way out of his depth. The reality is the Association are operating on an amateur basis & are always posted missing & unaccountable when it all goes pear-shaped. Why? They wouldn't have the ability or know-how to explain what went wrong nor do they have the knowledge to set up, or set a path to, a realistic ambition. Slovenia is a great comparison on how to successfully negotiate a group & they don't have anywhere near the resources of Scottish clubs/MGMT. Unfortunately, once Scotland qualify (the current hidden ambition) then complacency sets in quickly from MGMT to Association & it all begins to fall apart. Professionalism goes out the window & all & sundry flee from responsibility. The evidence is clearly on the table as the team who actually qualified were way more robust than the one that played in Germany with a very limited game plan. The entire tournament goes down as an embarrassment, however, it is not the first time - in fact, it happens every time. From 1978 where Scotland were a team run on big ego & an inferiority complex right up to now - the difference being the '78 players had enough about them to beat the finalists. As it stands currently if Scotland needed a point from anyone to get out a group they wouldn't get it. The current crop of players are left adrift & brittle by poor MGMT from all of those above. A team that can't defend, score or register a threat is utterly bankrupt in football terms. A lot needs changed before Scotland reach an understanding & maturity of performance sufficient to find progression. FED is open for club investment & direction strategies: 1.
