There's under a week remaining to apply for a Karman Fellowship from The Karman Project! Get your applications ready!
I've enjoyed all of my interactions with the Karman community, and I'm sure the next cohort of Karman Fellows will continue to expand this impressive network of interdisciplinary space leaders. If you are active in the aerospace field in just about any capacity -- whether you are an entrepreneur, an engineer, an artist, a policy maker, or just about any other role that is building the space ecosystem -- you are eligible to apply. I encourage you to throw your hat in the ring!
From what I've seen firsthand, Karman Fellows quickly build a close network of peers and connections in leadership positions around the world and across all facets of aerospace. Over the course of a one-year leadership program (undertaken in addition to each Fellow's day job--this is not something you have to take a leave of absence to do or anything like that), you'll get to peek into what's happening in space across every continent and in sectors that likely are wildly different from your own. It's the kind of group you can have big, world-expanding, brain-blowing conversations with... and it is full of the kind of people who can take meaningful actions based on those new perspectives.
As you prepare your application, what I've seen and been told is that your video is generally the most important part of the application, as that is how the Karman team really gets to know applicants. But candidates are not assessed on the production quality, only the content of their messages (thank goodness).
If you love space; if you believe it has the power and maybe even the imperative to be used to global benefit; if you are a realist about the nature of our industry's financial status, dual-purpose application, inspirational power, current flaws, and more: this would be a great program for you. I encourage you to apply!
