HAZMAT — Public Health Redesigned Airborne Hazards and Open Burn Pit Registry (AHOBPR 2.0) The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA) Redesigned Airborne Hazards and Open Burn Pit Registry, referred to as the “AHOBPR 2.0," is a critical tool that is advancing research through combining Veteran and service member data. AHOBPR 2.0 enables VA to identify and research health challenges of Veterans and service members who were exposed to airborne hazards and burn pits during their military service. Over time, the knowledge gained through this research and operations initiative will be used to fuel advancements in treatments, more precise predictive medicine, inform decisions related to presumptive conditions, and deliver targeted proactive and preventative care https://lnkd.in/eZiEdERg

Navy Lt. Cmdr. Alicia Egts discussed the Defense Health Agency's digital front door at the #MHSConference. She discussed how we can use technology in meaningful ways to make connections between people and get to value based care. Another key consideration is focusing on the experience of our care teams. If we take better care of our people we can provide better outcomes for our patients. The DHA is focused on people, policies, processes and culture to transform the care delivery model. DHA is removing barriers that stifle innovation and fulfillment in practice by fostering a culture of rapid, iterative innovation and experimentation to improve the efficiency of practice and focusing on the well-being of care teams.

The Defense Health Agency (DHA) is pursuing a major transformation of its military health system (MHS), seeking commercial solutions to develop a new care model. The Defense Innovation Unit's solicitation notice highlighted that the MHS's current operating model is unsustainable for maintaining medical force readiness and requires a new, technology-enabled framework. The planned approach focuses on enhancing patient experience, integrating provider-supporting technology in the health ecosystem, and improving data management. Key to this initiative is a "digital front door" offering self-scheduling, provider search, and secure communication, as well as reducing administrative burdens on healthcare providers. According to DHA, the goal is to make the MHS more patient-centered and efficient, matching or exceeding civilian healthcare standards. It was never a good idea to throw all the services into one pot. DHA has made military medicine nothing more than a giant HMO- discouraging utilization of services, delaying consults to the point that service members just say f-it. This has destroyed military medicine. Army, Navy, Coast Guard, Marine, Air Force, and Space Force are different animals, they have different missions, different needs. When has throwing everything into one bucket benefited anyone? What they need to look at is paying their providers fair market value wages, not requiring them to see 20-26 patients each day. Wake up DHA. You are losing your workforce to the private sector. And BTW, how is sending service members into the private sector cost effective? I reality soap box, thank you for listening.
