ALL-NEW 2025 HONDA CR-V FUEL CELL ELECTRIC VEHICLE LEASE PRICING ANNOUNCED; INCLUDES GENEROUS HYDROGEN FUEL CREDITS [Honda] Honda announced lease options for the all-new 2025 Honda CR-V e:FCEV, America's first production plug-in hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle. The fun-to-drive, zero-emissions compact CUV will be available in California, with three competitive leasing options, with the majority of customers expected to choose a 3 year/36,000 mile lease for $459 per month, including $15,000 of hydrogen refueling credits during the lease term. Honda has more than two decades of market experience with hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, starting from the introduction of the Honda FCX in December 2002, the world's first zero-emission fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) to receive certification for everyday use from both the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the California Air Resources Board (CARB), as well as the first FCEV leased to individual customers. Too funny, no one wants hydrogen cars, the number of fueling stations is falling, so the solution is to make the vehicle a plug in hybrid vehicle....🤣 This is what happens when you invest billions in a technology no one wants and to save face you try and think of some other use. At least petrol/diesel plug in hybrids have somewhere to fuel up. Sorry but this has got to be one of the stupidest decisions made by Honda, makes even less sense than the CR-Z, and will sell even less than that oddity. Yes Virginia, there is an electric vehicle revolution occurring, but let's not forget about hydrogen. Last week Hyundai Motor Company (현대자동차)laid out a bold strategy which outlined business verticals across hydrogen production, storage and fuel-cell use in vehicles, aircraft and ships. According to José Muñoz "The scientific feasibility has been achieved, the technology feasibility has been achieved and the economics are on their way". Indeed #AbilityToProfit needs improvement ---- there are currently only about 15,000 hydrogen fuel cell cars - all in California, one from Hyundai (the Nexo SUV), the Toyota Motor Corporation Mirai and the American Honda Motor Company, Inc. Clarity. Introducing Nitrogen with Hydrogen (Ammonia) is a clean source of fuel comparatively to carbon based fuels. Toyota Motor Corporation is getting behind this Ammonia fueled engine, which will accelerate adoption. Their CEO has even gone so far as to call it an 'EV Killer.' This is an innovation you definitely want to pay attention to. I don't care what the haters in the comment section think of this. This is down right awesome and exactly what the US car industry needs. Full electric isn't for everyone, including me. But Honda being innovative and forward thinking, is what we all need. To even be offering an alternative energy vehicle option is truly remarkable. As it stands now, the infrastructure in this country does not currently support Fuel Cell vehicle attainability or sustainability. But look at the myriad of fully electric vehicles offered across the industry as a whole and worldwide at this point, where were we 5 or 10 years ago? An even better question is, where will they be 5 or 10 years down the road? Just keep in mind, all the haters in the article's comment section spouting off about ICE vehicles being superior and that any other fuel type isn't worth the time or innovation, simply don't understand the industry or technology and only offer knee jerk reactions to common falsehoods. Do you think we'll somehow go from ICE to flying cars and 'Beam Me Up Scottie' without Honda/Acura daring to be even the least bit risky? 6 Ways The Honda CR-V e:FCEV Is A Game-Changer For Hydrogen Vehicles https://lnkd.in/eRy_wZhd Honda quietly introduced what might be the most significant hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle the world has ever seen, delivering on its promise to produce a FCEV version of the beloved CR-V. While this new model's technology might not seem impressive initially, looking past the apparent flaws is essential to see the massive potential. Here's what you need to know straight off the bat. The Honda CR-V e:FCEV is an entirely new kind of vehicle that combines two existing technologies. It's a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle that feeds on 9.5 pounds of hydrogen gas stored in 10,000 psi tanks. But hydrogen refueling stations are scarce, so the CR-V e:FCEV has a party trick... It's also a battery-electric vehicle, which means the battery that powers the single electric motor can be charged at home and doesn't need to tap into the hydrogen reserves. The battery-electric driving range is 29 miles, increasing to 270 miles if you add the electricity created by the fuel cell's chemical reaction. These figures may not be game-changing in the broader EV space, but that's likely why Honda will only be leasing cars in California for now, where hydrogen is actually available. What's more important is what the car represents, so let's do a deep dive into the design and technology behind the vehicle (...).

Hydrogen fuel cell cars have no hope of capturing any meaningful PV market share. Lack of fuelling infrastructure, cost of hydrogen, expensive vehicles, and the success of electric cars, have relegated fuel cell cars to the also-ran list. Hydrogen car sales in the US fell by almost 80% in the past six months, from 2,044 units between April and September of 2023, to just 424 units in the final half of FY24. Only two FCEV models are sold in the US: Toyota Mirai, and Hyundai Nexo. Similarly, in Germany, Europe’s largest hydrogen car market, 2023 saw a 70% drop in hydrogen car registrations to just 263 units. The country’s taxpayer’s association has called for an end to subsidies on FCEVs and hydrogen refuelling stations (€450m since 2007), calling them “absurd” and “pointless.” Ever since Toyota launched the Mirai FCEV in late 2014, it has aggressively promoted its virtues. But car buyers looking for zero emission vehicles have by far preferred EVs. While hydrogen proponents want more refuelling infrastructure to boost the popularity of FCEVs, global evidence shows it won't lead to widespread uptake of these cars. #ElectricVehicles #HydrogenCar #FCEV

The CR-V FCEV is engineered to run on a hydrogen fuel cell, which converts the compressed gas into electricity that drives the car. However, what sets it apart from other hydrogen fuel cell vehicles like the Toyota Mirai and Hyundai Nexo is that it has a lithium-ion battery pack that can be charged via plug.
