The Honda EV Hub is reimagining manufacturing, setting new global standards for flexible production while establishing more human-friendly and environmentally responsible processes. With a $1 billion investment, Honda is retooling three auto plants in Ohio to be able to build internal combustion engine, hybrid-electric, and EV models on the same production line, using domestic and globally sourced parts. This flexible approach enables Honda to efficiently adapt to customer needs and market conditions. Our Honda EV Hub team has created a more efficient and associate-friendly work environment with improvements that include reduced walking and increased space for processes, enhanced ergonomics, and streamlined parts delivery. At the same time, Honda engineers have utilized the opportunity of reimagining manufacturing at the Honda EV Hub to implement energy-saving and other environmentally responsible initiatives in line with the company's comprehensive strategy aimed at achieving zero environmental impact by 2050. EV production will begin in late 2025 with the all-new Acura RSX EV, followed by models based on the Honda 0 Saloon and Honda 0 SUV prototypes recently introduced at CES 2025. IONNA, a joint venture charging network founded by Honda and seven other leading automakers, aims to redefine the EV fast charging experience with cutting-edge technology, retail integration, amenities and unparalleled customer service. Limited charging infrastructure remains a key barrier to widespread EV adoption, a challenge IONNA is tackling head-on. Now moving step-by-step from public beta testing to a full-scale national release, with more than 100 sites already contracted nationwide, and immediate Rechargery openings in Texas, Kansas and Arizona, IONNA plans to deploy over 1,000 live charging points by the end of 2025. American Honda Executive Vice President Bob Nelson and American Honda Vice President of Sustainability and Business Development Jay Joseph helped mark the grand opening of the first IONNA Rechargery in Apex, NC with a ribbon-cutting, celebrating IONNA’s commitment to expanding reliable EV charging across the country. This is just the beginning as IONNA works toward its goal of installing 30,000 charging points nationwide by 2030. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gHrk5VDZ

Honda was proud to serve as the executive host for the 2025 SAE International Government/Industry Meeting, which promotes collaboration among automotive industry experts and agency leaders from state and federal governments.
I had the privilege of delivering the opening keynote at this year’s SAE International Government/Industry Meeting, where I shared how the Honda investment in retooling our Ohio auto production facilities has increased from the original $700 million we announced in 2022 to over $1 billion. At Honda and across the industry, we are making massive investments to create electric, automated and software-defined vehicles—including the ability to build these vehicles in America. As we navigate this once-in-a-hundred-years transformation to more intelligent technologies, we have a great opportunity to ensure that America remains a leader in the global competition. Achieving this will require sound public policies and meaningful, achievable regulations that foster a competitive marketplace. Government-industry collaboration will be critical in ensuring the future success of the U.S. auto industry in the face of Chinese competitiveness in advanced technologies. My hope is that we can work together—government, industry, and stakeholders—to foster smart, regulatory policies that will drive growth, create jobs, and position the U.S. to lead in the next era of mobility. #GIM2525 #Automotive #Technology

Meet Ella McCloskey, an Environmental Engineering major at the University of Cincinnati and Honda’s Fall Co-op of the Term. Ella’s journey with Honda began last spring at the Transmission Manufacturing Plant in Ohio, and she returned this fall to the Marysville Auto Plant, where she works in the Environmental Department. During this term, Ella made significant contributions to Honda’s environmental efforts at the plant, including renovating a wastewater treatment tank and designing spill containment solutions for underground storage tank fill stations. But her most inspiring takeaway has been working alongside and learning from women engineers like Tatem Owens, Samantha Hanzel, and Anna McNabb. “The best part about my experience with Honda is this is my first experience with women engineers. It’s been inspiring for me to come to Honda and have these three women mentor me,” Ella shared. Ella’s dedication to environmental action and the trust her team has placed in her have made her experience even more meaningful. She’s excited to continue her journey with Honda in the future.
