In a significant move against online hate, Meta announced that starting today, it will remove content targeting Zionists with conspiratorial and antisemitic claims, or using "Zionist" for dehumanizing comparisons, calls for harm, or denial of existence. We thank Meta for leading the industry in addressing hate speech and listening to the concerns of the Jewish community, including those of AJC. We hope other platforms will take similar actions. https://lnkd.in/gmwdJGtx

📣 As of today, Meta will remove content that uses the term "Zionists" as a proxy for hate speech. This includes, but is not limited to, the following actions: · Invoking antisemitic stereotypes. · Dehumanizing Jewish people. · Calling for harm towards Jews. · Denying the existence of Zionists. Given the considerable spillover effect of antisemitic violence on social media into real-life hate crimes, it can be expected that this decision will have a positive impact, provided that it is properly implemented. It is undoubtedly a positive step for Jewish and Israeli communities, which have endured significant abuse in both offline and online settings since October 7, 2023. Hopefully other platforms will follow. Looking at you TikTok, YouTube, X and LinkedIn 🙂. Many Thanks to the World Jewish Congress, Meta and also Yfat Barak-Cheney for making this happen! #HopeNotHate #Antisemitism https://lnkd.in/eRNs5a3r

Let's see if I can get this image banned on two platforms. In 2017, I posted this image on Facebook—defenders of Trump, Nazis, and the KKK, but they draw the line on "adult sexual exploitation." It was flagged today—7 tears later. Evidently, I was targeted by their precision AI bots crawling their backlogs for neer-do-well rapscallions. Also evidently, political parody and satire are unrecognised. Facebook (or Meta) are about a decade behind China's attempt to pan puns, cuz reasons. On the upside, at least it wasn't flagged as 'fake news', so I'll chalk that up as a win. Meantime, I apologise for sharing this intimate yet consensual photo of an ex-lover. Never again. smfh #AI #GenAI #data #datacrawling #adult #exploitation #sexualcontent #parody #satire #cancelculture #banned #facebook #meta #communitystandards #violations #freespeech #censorship #bigbrother #overreach #technology #Trump #DonaldTrump #UnitedStates #obesity #election2024 #racism #fakenews #outrage #fauxoutrage #china #policy #puns #image #sincerity #apology #luilz #smh #badactors #badapples #badfruit #safespace

Online hate speech has a direct impact on offline violence. The assassination attempt on Prime Minister Robert Fico in #Slovakia is a prime example of why we should not underestimate the social impact of #hatespeech. Our CEO Tomáš Halász representing TrollWall AI, together with our friends from the Stop Hate initiative, Jana Kazaz, SJD from GLOBSEC, and Simona Šintalová from digiQ, we published an op-ed in SME Daily discussing the spread of offline hate and what needs to be done to counter it. Very interesting - Strategies of Blaming on Social Media: An Experimental Study of Linguistic Framing and Retweetability "Our results show that an attack on a person’s character is seen as more critical than blaming them for causing a negative outcome, regardless of the basis of blame. The personal traits of a politician are thus her most vulnerable targets in online protest or debate." https://lnkd.in/eBXFS_j3

Guiding educators through the practical and ethical implications of GenAI. Consultant & Author | PhD Candidate | Director @ Young Change Agents & Reframing Autism
Tech companies should not be left to regulate themselves. What happened to Taylor Swift happens to literally millions of women and girls, and extends back before powerful GenAI models. So far, laws and regulations have failed to protect the victims of this kind of abuse. Guardrails, filters, and safety features put in place by developers can be easily circumvented - as demonstrated by the 4chan users who apparently gamed a Microsoft product to produce these images. We need stronger action to control the creation and distribution of models, AS WELL AS efforts from industry to safeguard the tech. It shouldn’t take a high profile case of deepfake pornography to make people take notice of a decade-old issue. But now that it is firmly in the public consciousness, governments have another opportunity to actually do something about it. And don’t bullshit us with “freedom of speech” or “stifling innovation” arguments. Just get it done. #ai #aieducation
Deepfake porn images of Taylor Swift have prompted a ‘necessary and overdue conversation on how AI and deepfake porn is used to harass, humiliate, degrade, threaten, extort and punish (mostly) women.’ As a society, we are scrambling to catch up with the extraordinary risks associated with the easy accessibility of powerful AI; power that is all too often weaponised in ways that amplify harms to women.
Anyone could be a victim of ‘deepfakes’. But there’s a reason Taylor Swift is a target | Jill Filipovic

#Social #engineering #algorithms: I'm quite sure that Alphabet Inc. knows I'm a #lesbian, and because lesbians aren't supposed to exists, my Google algo is probably similar to a young male's algo - PLEASE prove me wrong!!! The result is a constant flood of adds on my YouTube profile full of #misogyny, #violence and #videogames, ever since these adds started rolling. On account of a knife attack that killed 3 little girls in Merseyside, the British police having been saying that people are becoming fascinated by violence. How about social media #stop #glorifying #violence in general and against #women and #LGB's in particular? How about leaders stop flashing their guns and stop pushing war as the answer to real world problems? Stop destroying people's minds for profit! We the people overtake you in numbers and we aren't happy!
